I'm not ready to wait another two years!!!

Sometimes I wish, I'd have never started to watch Sherlock.
It is just cruel... three episodes, then again two years...
And of course there always has to be an cliffhanger...
Do they want to torture us? Or do they fear nobody would be interested in the next season?

Also Moftiss talked about how nice it is, that they have young Sherlock and Watson to show much of their life... Ben and Martin will not become younger by waiting two years everytime...

I feel much the same as you do. While I understand that there are logistical problems, actors/scripts etc I do worry that they may overeach themselves with these two year waits between series. Especially as the series 3 cliffhanger wasn't nearly as exciting/dramatic/heartbreaking as the series 2 one was. I can't help wondering if the fans and/or the general audience will start to lose interest if something else comes along in the meantime to grab the public imagination.   A Christmas 2014 episode would have helped to bridge the gap. There's a lot to be said for striking while the iron's hot.

I agree with all you say; I think it's risky to believe that ending each series with a cliffhanger will result in the same number if viewers maintaining their interest enough to tune in in two years time.
At the moment we're all desperate for the next series but it's a fact that sometimes people do get tired of waiting.
And I do feel that it's the scripts rather than the Actors causing most of the delay - I get the feeling that it's something the Actors are prepared to make time for when asked to.
Having said that, I also think that sometimes you have to take Moftiss with a pinch of salt; I think they like to tease and fib sometimes, so let's see what happens!

Hmm well the worst cliffhanger was the first...
The second was... well quite as the books in some way...
But the third is also completely new... I'm not that much interested in Moriarty, but in how the f*** will they explain this return of Sherlock to everybody else? What will happen about the child...
Will we ever be able to see them just happy?
I should have stopped watching after The Empty Hearse...

I do think a lot hangs on season 4; they've got to get it completely right, imo, and as you say, they've got a heck of a lot of loose ends to tie up!

No another 2-year gap, please
"fans are accustomed to a long wait" - I don't think so, we HAD to wait so long, and we did it with hope there would be no such a long hiatus anymore.

well if it had ended on sherlock flying away, it would have been one, but then again the moriarty after the credits is a cliff hanger again...
but still it is a point where you dont want it to end

Lol....unless you believed that the big intellectual Napoleon of Crime was stupid enough to kill himself....then it woulda definitely been a surprise/cliffhanger at the end of HLV. It was no surprise/cliffhanger for fans such as myself.

Hm the Moriarty thing was also not a surprise to me.
But that Sherlock was coming back after 4 minutes was kind of a surprise or at least we hoped he wouldn't... but still they leave us in a complete different way than for example at the end of TEH.

I honestly didnt see the big deal about the plane trip. We know he would always HAVE to return back "home" for a season 4 & 5! Plus Mycroft could always locate and extract him as he did in TEH, so him turning back after 4mins could not be the work of Mycroft, neither was there anything significant about it in my opinion....

Moreover, Sherlock coming back after 4mins was like the ending of TGG (only that TGG was way more awesome!).....we know he obviously wouldn't shoot the bomb (or would he?)!  Either way, we know that the bomb would NOT have been detonated and kill our beloved characters! But nevertheless, the ending of TGG was wayyyy better because even though we knew there wouldn't be an explosion, we still wanted to know how they would be Stayin' Alive!!!!
