I assume Sherlock meant that her comment, "You're a popular choice [for a murder victim] at the moment," indicated she'd had too much to drink?

I don't agree with him there, however...

Yeah, that was the implication. It was more of a jokey remark than a serious one though, I think. I don't think he actually believed Mrs H had had too much to drink, he just wanted to make a quick quip and maybe embarrass her enough to shut up.
