He may not have realized how John would react and assumed he would be immediately welcomed back, but when Sherlock first spies John in restaurant...he initially looked nervous, I thought.

I am SO naive (and perverted by Johnlock, ok ) that when he stole that bow tie, I thought at first it was to look all smart and elegant for John
