I remember Benedict reading out a Holmes story. It was quite confusing, shall we say....

"Sherlock Holmes is a great man, and I think one day—if we’re very very lucky—he might even be a good one."

"Would you like to-"
"-have dinner?"
"-solve crimes?"
"Oh"

Kindle people! Kindle people everywhere!  I prefer to stick to a book that I can hold in my hands.

Haven't read the complete canon till date.
But I stay tuned to it...

It finally arrived! It looks so precious. Definitely the best book in my collection.

Wow, I didn't expect Study in Scarlet to be so long.
After all, I'm relieved that I'm not having understanding problems. It's all beautifully and well written.

I am Sherlock's biggest fan after all...

No, unfortunately, not all of the Canon.
I know there are more stories I have not read.
But I have read most of it.
And loved it. When I first saw the Granada series with Jeremy Brett
I felt like the Canon came alive for me. Still my favorite.
I have enjoyed many adaptations of Sherlock Holmes.
This new BBC series pulled me right in from the first 5 minutes.
Martin and Benedict are super.

I bought the collection recently. I've read Study in Scarlet, Sign of Four and all of the Adventures collection. I read Silver Blaze the other night and I aim to read more over the next few days so that I can read Hound of the Baskervilles this weekend

I like Silver Blaze. I think it is a story that would transfer well to the screen.

Don't make people into heroes John. Heroes don't exist and if they did I wouldn't be one of them.

True. We still have horse racing these days and it could work.

It's not my first language either but I find it surprisingly easy to read. I understand why Moftiss are so big fanboys.

In my adolescent years, quite a while ago ;o) I read the canon (from the library) for the first time - including fond memories of watching different adaptions on (german) TV and I have been hooked on Holmes since. :o)
Of course long since I own the books, in a beautiful german version, hard copies in nine volumes.

Some stories of the original, english version I have read online and it is so enjoyable and amazing! Alas, I couldn't decide yet, which printed version I would like to own. There are so many great editions out there.
Perhaps I should check the local antiquarian bookshops for some lovely old Penguins sometime. ;o)

In my life I have found two things of priceless worth - learning and loving. Nothing else - not fame, not power, not achievement for its own sake - can possible have the same lasting value. For when your life is over, if you can say 'I have learned' and 'I have loved', you will also be able to say 'I have been happy'.
