My quote of the day:

"And I was totally oblivious to a joke that was being hatched against me" (Benedict about famous neutron cream prank)

They were working in a research facility that was working with radiation so they convinced Benedict (and some of the other actors before he got there) that they had to wear 'neutron cream' in spots over their faces to protect them from the harmful ions in the air.

Simon Pegg posted a photo of Benedict and himself with the cream on on Twitter yesterday. I can't work out how to copy it here.

Don't make people into heroes John. Heroes don't exist and if they did I wouldn't be one of them.

Ah, now I get it! I've seen that picture at least ten times on tumblr.

Ekhem...going back to the topic here is my Sunday vocabulary pic:

"nothing's preordained by plan" (says our favourite actor) talking about "joys and thrills and nerve-racking realities of being an actor"

Oh, he was, wasn't he? "Protoplasmic psychic interference", indeed!  I wonder if he invented it on the spot: if so, I am deeply impressed.

We solve crimes, I blog about it, and he forgets his pants.  I wouldn't hold out too much hope!

Just this morning you were all tiny and small and made of clay!

I'm working my way up the greasy pole.  It's… very greasy.  And…  pole-shaped.

Well, I did not find it in a quick search but I can always try making a transcript. Someone should proofread it though before I post it ;-)

I finally got to sit and watch the Stephen Hawking episodes that he narrated. The subject is very intense and when they fade from Stephen's voice to Benedict's, it's just bone-chilling. There are lots of words that I will never hear the same way again: the beauty of the cosmos, all things come together through gravity, and my personal favorite we are all made of the smoke of the Big Bang. Bad enough the subject matter blew my mind, but that voice, too?

Just added this bit of ear candy to my Netflix que.

That's a good one, too. And sometimes he's loquacious.

He's even rumoured to be a cunning linguist.

Ok, I'll go now.
