They were working in a research facility that was working with radiation so they convinced Benedict (and some of the other actors before he got there) that they had to wear 'neutron cream' in spots over their faces to protect them from the harmful ions in the air.

Well, I did not find it in a quick search but I can always try making a transcript. Someone should proofread it though before I post it ;-)
