Now that I've finally finished the Conan Doyle canon, I thought I'd branch out into other Sherlock-inspired writings. I've just started reading The Improbable Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (edited by John Joseph Adams), an anthology of 28 Holmesian pastiches written by various authors including Stephen King, Neil Gaiman and Laurie R. King. According to the intro, some of them are quite fantastical, hence the Improbable Adventures. I look forward to getting into it Anyone else read this one?

I've read two stories so far.

The Doctor's Case by Stephen King is quite good, very close to Conan Doyle's style, and a case that I can imagine being a part of canon, even though Watson is the one who solves the mystery in this story (don't worry, that's is not a spoiler, he says this in the first paragraph). The Horror of the Many Faces by Tim Lebbon is a weird and creepy pulp sci-fi/supernatural horror AU. Very well-written but I didn't enjoy it, it's just not my genre. I really hadn't heard of this book, but it sounds fab...some great writers.
Presumably they didn't have such a task as Anthony Horowitz, who did very well...
