Great news! I wonder whether if BC is doing theatre work in the UK this year frees up some time for filming the new series. Either way, fingers crossed for less than a year to go!

On second thought, I really don't know what to make of that Dec 25 date. It seems that it hasn't really been confirmed yet if you look at this article: http://www.entertainmentwise.com/news/138165/Martin-Freeman-Unsure-About-Sherlock-Series-4-Return-Date- (posted by Sherlock Holmes earlier).

I'm also very sceptical. Premiere in December would mean that shooting must start very soon. But the scripts haven't even been written. And you need time for casting, choosing of shooting location, preparing studio scenery and costumes and so on. I don't say, it's impossible, but I think it's very unlikely.

Yes, and the article said they are desperate to do it, which does not mean that they can or will do it.
I really don't care as long as they have a 4. Season I am happy.

But I hope they'll at least start shooting this year. Then we can speculate again about setlock pictures .

It only really says that it is what the BBC is hoping for. Not that it will happen.
I hope they take their time, I'd rather wait two years for a brilliant season than eleven months for a mediocre one.

It is, technically possible:

January, February, March - Writing of scripts
April, May - Finalising of scripts, Casting, Location Reccys
June, July, August, September - Filming
October, November - Editing & Scoring
December - Delivery

Well, if Benedict and John aren't that busy this year... What about rehearsals of Hamlet if Benedict is going to play it in autumn?
Do you think BBC put ( are able to put) pressure on the team?
