Rolling Stone Magazine has today covered the death of Doc Watson the American Folk Music pioneer at the age of 89. Blind from the age of 1 he pursued a musical career. He won 7 Grammys and received the Recording Academy's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004. He founded Merlefest, named after his son who performed with him for 15 years following his death in a tractor accident, in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. This has become a destination event for musicians as well as fans of Americana.
