Sherlock remix
You can still sign up for the Sherlock remix fest that will start soon over at LJ. In the fest the mods assign you a recipient and you have to remix one of her stories into a new one. It's great fun. Last year I was so lucky as to be assigned cherryblossomtide.

In a remix you use an existing story to write a new one. You can twist the plot, change the POV, pick out an element and work it into something completely different, etc. It's great fun to do.
