But time wise there can't be mistakes...it's TV world and we have years between series!
They can do what they like.

Yes, that's what I've been thinking about. The timing is very open, and we don't have much precedent. S2 was directly after S1. S3 was a couple of years after S2. TAB was directly after S3. Although it looks as if S4 should directly lead on from TAB, there's nothing to stop it happening days, weeks, months or even years later. The thing that anchored is to S3/TAB is Lady Smallwood in the trailer, but we don't know if that's a flashback, and don't even know for certain that she's talking to Sherlock - we could be being tricked! Anything could be in somebody's imagination and anything could be flashback as far as I'm concerned .

Well, Amanda said at SDCC that at the beginning of series 4 she was still pregnant which led to the elephant joke. So whether this is real or not, it seems there will be pregnant Mary at the beginning of ep. 1.

I don't think so. If Sherlock were into electronic music, I guess he would listen to Goa Trance...

That is certainly... interesting

Is it being played backwards?

I think the first part of that clip is just him finding the correct settings, but in the last few seconds, you can hear something that sounds VERY similar to some of the S3 soundtrack. The harsh-sounding 'chugga chugga' noise sounds exactly like what you can hear at the start of "How It Was Done" and the electronic bleeping and blooping settles into a very dreamlike twinkling sound, definitely reminiscent of a hallucinatory state IMO. Very excited to hear this!

Me too. And yet, it has something absolutely fascinating.
