Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

In the concerning interview I saw with Benedict( where he said about ending the show), his angle seemed to be very much 'whatever the story dictates'.

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

We are the fandom that waited, and honestly I just don't see it ending just yet (I still remember Benedict saying he'd love to do Sherlock when he was old as well) Our luck is that the writers are fanboys, and we all know what dedication that comes with. Maybe it will take years between series... but it will be worth it.

If it is the end, I will cry. Sherlock is so very special to me for so many reasons. But that's the good thing about a show like this. It will always be there still. And especially this show. I've watched the episodes so, so many times and I always find one little detail I missed that seems to make a big difference.

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

And at the end of the day, for me anyway, Sherlock Holmes is eternal.

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

He truly is. Mr Doyle created a character that can never die.

I think people will always make adaptions... though... I will admit, nothing will ever be able to touch what BBC Sherlock has been (and is!!) for me

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

No, personally I've felt something for this adaptation that I haven't felt for any other.  It doesn't even have to mean it's the best adaptation.   The great thing is, that the episodes are film-length, and we've already got thirteen made (not counting MHR).   That's quite a lot compared to say, Harry Potter.    Obviously, I want more, but at least we have quite a lot to be going on with!

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

I definitely think it's my favourite adaptation of ACD's original stories.
For me it's Canon, at least on TV, if not film.
But I love the original Canon(the books) as much as I do BBC Sherlock.
The only challenge to that for me was with TAB, when the BBC dared entered that almost sacred Victorian world.
I loved how they did it and I loved the link with the present.
Brilliant.

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

BBC Sherlock was (sadly) my first real introduction to Sherlock Holmes. Unless you count Basil Mouse, Scooby Doo and Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers with The Hounds of The Baskerville.

I think I can blame my family. Anything that was the least brainy (or had tough themes) was called boring. Anything that was a bit above them really. And while I've always tried to be better than them I guess it rubbed off on me.

I'm happy I finally opened my eyes and watched S3 back then... then for lack of 'better'... and here we are.

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

Oh, what fun!   I have a huge list ...

Mary dies!
The baby dies!
Mycroft dies!
Mrs Hudson dies!
John dies!

Seriously, I do think somebody's going to die.

And of course ...

Sherlock is Sherrinford!
Sherlock's twin is Sherrinford!
Mycroft's twin is Sherrinford!
Another brother is Sherinford!
A sister is Sherinford!
Mary is Sherrinford!
Mrs Holmes is Sherrinford!

And ...

It's never twins!
It's definitely twins!  Sherlock has an evil twin!  Mycroft has an evil twin!  Moriarty has an evil twin and it's Mary!  No, Janine!  Mary!

And so on.  I really need to settle down and stick to one!

I cannot live without brainwork. What else is there to live for? Stand at the window there. Was there ever such a dreary, dismal, unprofitable world? See how the yellow fog swirls down the street and drifts across the dun-coloured houses. What could be more hopelessly prosaic and material? What is the use of having powers, Doctor, when one has no field upon which to exert them?
