Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

Tough people there on the set:

I cannot live without brainwork. What else is there to live for? Stand at the window there. Was there ever such a dreary, dismal, unprofitable world? See how the yellow fog swirls down the street and drifts across the dun-coloured houses. What could be more hopelessly prosaic and material? What is the use of having powers, Doctor, when one has no field upon which to exert them?

Tough people indeed. But where would we all be without them all?

I think that was for Dr. Strange, the foodtruck.

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

Do we know about child casting for this episode?  There was a request for a curlyhaired child a while back, but I can't remember which Ep.  This boy might be about the right age, although his hair doesn't look curly here.  He looks too young for the boy suspected to be the young Mycroft.   Of course, he could be the child of one of the members of the team.  There was a shot of Rupert with one of his children recently.

And guess who's back!   Timothy Carlton! https://twitter.com/Ruther2/status/760940492301463552

I wonder if there will be a flashback to HLV Christmas?  Not that this is an indication of course ... just wondering with all the hints of flashbacks to previous episodes.    I'm almost getting the feeling of a parallel story running through the other episodes, lots of stuff that we didn't know.

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

I would SOOO love for the series to show flashback sequences of John and Harry's childhoods, too!  Not just Sherlock and Mycroft's.  Since John's parents are dead, it would not be possible to film scenes of John meeting with his parents as Sherlock has with his, but flashbacks would work nicely.

Oooh Timothy's back? Cool!

And I do love that picture with the kid, aw!

And re-food truck, that might be right!!

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

I'm not sure I need to know John's childhood and background, although I'd like to see it.   Although I suppose it could be an interesting twist to make the show about John rather than Sherlock.  We've speculated that Mary got close to him for a reason, and assumed that centred around Sherlock, but ... who knows?   However, I think that although Sherlock continues to be a rather mysterious character who withholds information from us, John has always seemed a lot more open, WYSIWYG.   I don't know if he needs a mystery in his past ... but I'm open to the idea.   And of course, showing his past could be more about character than plot.

Tonnaree, yes, I keep thinking of "this is the story we've been telling all along" - that there are threads running right through.  And that there are some things which were never quite explained in previous episodes.  I think we're all getting that feeling of going back.   But we don't know if going back means flashbacks or mind palace at the moment.   Possibly everything set in the past is mind palace.  Or alternatively, everything we've seen so far is mind palace (as hinted at in TAB!), but lets hope not!

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

I suppose they could have got away with that, if they were having Sherlock relate the tales rather than John.
But then, what is purpose of John?
Oh, I suppose he's still the sidekick!

Re: Series 4 Setlock (potential spoilers)

My memory being what it is, I just checked the young Sherlock casting and yes, it's Ep 3.  So the boy in the picture above may be he.

Seems a little bit too young for Redbeard's death (unless we're getting backstory on that), but could be to do with the other one? No doubt a scene with the (possible) young Mycroft who was cast too.
