I'm not holding my breath for the big resolution, they won't be doing that if they think there'll be season 5.

Well, the question is if it is their wish fulfillment or ours or both? They spoke similarly about their Reichenbach fix-it in TAB. It was their wish to have John Watson save Sherlock Holmes from Moriarty. So this has been fixed. I really do not think that offing Mary, their own creation, can be called insane wish fulfillment. I would see this as Moftiss fulfilling their wishes about fixing Canon. Just my two cents.
