"Academy Award nominees Benedict Cumberbatch, Emma Stone, Felicity Jones, and Rosamund Pike and Oscar winners Eddie Redmayne and J.K. Simmons are among the 322 people invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Academy announced on Friday."

A list of all newly invited is in the article, including some people we know for working with Benedict.

Well he can decline the invitation I know that Viggo Mortensen declined in 2004, I always found that kind of cool.

Well Mr Mortensen declined because he doesn't like judging art officially.

Well, maybe not quite. Because Academy Award nominees are automatically considered for membership, as can be read here:

I don't mean to sound negative here, but I really think that this doesn't have a whole lot to do with "honour". You are right, gently, maybe more so for Martin, but generally I'd say that sooner or later almost every actor/actress gets such an invitation. Just look at the list of the invitees and then look at the whole list of Academy members. It's just a natural thing and nothing really special, I'm afraid.
(But that being said, of course we all know that Benedict is talented as hell and deserves all the recognition in the world.)

Quiet, calm, peaceful... isn't it hateful?
To be honest, I'm rather enjoying the silence. Gives you time to catch up on some other things without having to fear that you'll miss something important when you're not online for a while. It'll get crazy again soon enough.
