Martin as mime

For the London 48 Hour Film competition, that is: Martin Freeman in a Hush-Hush Whodunit. (The full film is on the link site.)

Re: Martin as mime

Thanks for posting this REReader, I loved it. Martin's expressive face is perfect for mime!

I couldn't get the video to work from your link for some reason, so I searched for it directly on Vimeo and found it here https://vimeo.com/53937936. I also found a short trailer for it (https://vimeo.com/21020105) and a behind-the-scenes film (https://vimeo.com/19741170).

'The Girl is Mime' was made for the London 48 Hour Film Project; which it won. It then went to the 48 Hour International competition in Miami, Filmapalooza; which it won. It was also screened at Cannes.

I am going to seek out more of Martin's work for sure

Re: Martin as mime

I always loved this!  Although there's an old thread for it here:  http://sherlock.boardhost.com/viewtopic.php?id=1030

Yeah, when we were talking about the artsy interesting strangeness of some short films in the thread about ones Sophie Hunter had done, this one here, The Voorman Problem, Inseparable, and Little Favour were ones that came to mind as particularly hitting those kind of notes.  Martin's face is just great for it!

Just this morning you were all tiny and small and made of clay!

I'm working my way up the greasy pole.  It's… very greasy.  And…  pole-shaped.

Has anyone managed to find The Voorman Problem? I found a trailer, it does look interesting.

Re: Martin as mime

Yup!  I know at least a few of us have… there was a thread back when it came out.

It won at a couple festivals, like 'Mime', and nominated for an Academy Award.  Also like 'Mime', and some of the other shorts we've talked about, it's another great example of the strange, artsy, film short format that really makes you go 'wait a minute'.  I loved the idea of it.  It, 'Sea Wall', and 'Little Favour' are my favorite Sherlock alum emotionally nudging shorts.  Go take a look at it on the website!!  http://www.thevoormanproblem.com  (it's also available on amazon and itunes)

Sure, there's a small fee, but… just like Sea Wall and Little Favour, it was just independently done with the main guys and their friends or small production companies.  It's worth it, I think… and oddly, from searching for it, noticed Martin of all the people I look up filmography on, has been in quite a few older shorts, talking about such!
