Usually, that is not how TV works. In real life, I would agree with you. But TV follows certain rules. Characters in love usually mention it at least once. Characters mention their motivation at least once or hint at it (here that would be Mary protecting her baby). Mary is deliberately not shown that way. There surely is a reason to that.

But the show isn't really about them.
I still don't see how Mary is shown not to be protecting her baby. She's carrying it for 9 months without smoking or drinking..

That is really impressive - giving the fact that we never saw her smoke before.

AND going by your POV, if she said I love you off-screen, she could be drinking and smoking big style off-screen as well ...

Well I assume the Watsons are also having lots of hot sex, but I sure as heck don't want to see that either.

I fully agree you with. Not that they are having it necessarily but that if they have, I do not wish to see it.

Yep, I agree too. Not something I'd like to see ...

Me, neither!
John and Mary did kiss during the wedding reception.

I honestly never noticed.
But it would be usual!

It's weird though. As soon as I picture the Watsons "fullfilling their marriage" or if I have a look at the kiss at the wedding table it bores everything out of me. It's comfortable with each other, yes, but for what Mary and John are supposed to show on screen it's all a bit too settled for me....

Yeah, heaven forbid a blushing bride and nervous groom should be settled! Haha.
I always took it they are meant to be that way.
They are mature sensible medics, already living together and it was a whirlwind romance on the biggest day of their lives...not too dissimilar to my own story!

What do you mean with whirlwind romance?

I meant they met and married relatively quickly. That's how it's normally referred to.

It is the same expression Mrs Hudson uses for her own marriage to a killer who was executed. Just saying .

I referred only to the common English expression used for 2 individuals who marry relatively quickly...possibly Mrs H was referring to the same thing.

We know they use characters to mirror each other. And having a murderous spouse twice in this show is no coincidence.
Offline
Nobody said it wasn't, but I was merely talking about a point on the English language!

Thrice if I'm not mistaken. Think of TAB.

I am sure that nothing is a coincidence in this show.

I agree. Mary and Sherlock are both murderers .
