Second time in two years he'll be attending the ceremony.  Last time was for 12 Years a Slave.

Re: Oscars

Appropos of the Oscar conversation that went on in the BAFTA thread, here's some thoughts on the Oscar from a respected British film critic

Re: Oscars

That was very interesting REReader.  Thanks for posting it.

Here is an article about the Oscar race and how the box office relates to it.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/oscars-box-office-diminishing-returns-774540?utm_source=twitter

As for TIG one of the most important parts state -

Comparing budget to revenue, The Imitation Game is the most successful Oscar-nominated movie of the year. The film's $157.1 million in global box office (and counting) gives it the highest-percentage return-on-investment. In pure dollars, American Sniper has made far more money (nearly $400 million globally), but it will need to top $600 million to match Imitation Game's multiple.

Re: Oscars

Truthfully, I don't think Benedict is going to win this weekend.
However, having just reread Performance in a Leading Role I'll never say never.
Huge upsets have happened plenty of times in the Oscar's history.

Go Ben!

Re: Oscars

An interesting Oscar article...
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/oscars-2015-winners-predictions-twitter-775271

All about how Twitter traffic would pick the Oscars.

Ben would be the Best Actor and Imitation Game was the most talked about movie in California.

The interactive map at the end gives the state-by-state breakdown of each of the BP nominees.

Re: Oscars

Just a little something to help us keep things in perspective.

Benedict Cumberbatch is for life not just for the Oscars
There's no denying he's hot right now, but The Imitation Game star is a special kind of celebrity whose versatility and dedication to his work means he'll be around for a long time to come
