Oh and can the scriptwriter think of no other word but 'fcuk'?!

I remember hearing on the news several years ago that films have more swearing in them than movies did in the past.  I guess that means for f-bombs in some cases.  Hopefully there aren't too many more other than in the trailer, and that it's just a coincidence that it comes up a few times in the trailer.

Re: "The Taliban Shuffle"

You're probably right...but the accent?!
What is it meant to be?!

Re: "The Taliban Shuffle"

Let's hope it's better in the rest of the film.  I'm not really sure it sounds totally Scottish at the moment, though.  Unless it's mimicking the specific accent of the person he's playing.

Re: "The Taliban Shuffle"

Considering the film title is "Whisky Tango Foxtrot" (WTF, or What the...) and after seeing that trailer, I'm guessing there is a lot of swearing in the movie. I just wish I'd read these comments before clicking on the YouTube link! My kids were in the next room, oops!

Re: "The Taliban Shuffle"

Good point, the title could relate, other than just communicating a certain feel for the film.

I hope you didn't have your speakers on too loud.

They were right up to the loudest  but I'm hoping they were too engrossed in their play to hear it.

Re: "The Taliban Shuffle"

And another thing...
Yes I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover and likewise a film by its trailer.
But I was so looking forward to this project and now having seen that, I'm not sure I really want to see it at all!
Again, I accept the problem is with me...
The thought of actively seeing sex, I know is normal for most women-but says nothing to me about my life!

Re: "The Taliban Shuffle"

Hm...I don't know what the rating of the this film is, but I have my doubts that it will be too explicit.  I mean, I have only seen a few movies with sex, since I'm too too keen on that and it just tends not to figure in films I see, but most of the time if you see anything it's just the upper body of the people (I've only seen one film with an actual "pornographic" sex scene, and it wasn't good, not really a good film generally speaking either).  I find with American films, at least from my experience, with show a bit and then cut off.  We'll have to check the US rating when it comes out.  As long as it's not rated NC-17 in the States it shouldn't be too bad.

I hope we get to see Martin shirtless.

Now that you've said that, if that does happen in the movie I will probably think of you while I'm watching it.

I cannot live without brainwork. What else is there to live for? Stand at the window there. Was there ever such a dreary, dismal, unprofitable world? See how the yellow fog swirls down the street and drifts across the dun-coloured houses. What could be more hopelessly prosaic and material? What is the use of having powers, Doctor, when one has no field upon which to exert them?

Re: "The Taliban Shuffle"

I just got back from seeing Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

Sorry, besley, but there is quite a bit of swearing. Sometimes several times in one scene. Also sexual conversations
But when the "sex" happens between the Tina Fey character and the Martin character we don't actually see them do it, just the kissing and partial disrobing beforehand. They do talk about the sex the next morning, though.

There is some humour, though often dark, that does not trivialize the serious parts of the story relating to the war.

tonnaree (minor spoiler) we do not see Martin shirtless but I think you will be happy with what we do see of him. He looks good on the big screen and makes some great faces.

I am not the best judge of Scottish accents, but I didn't think it was too bad, at least because he doesn't sound like he does usually.I must say that when his character first appears, the accent combined with the speed at which he spoke made it difficult to understand him and I missed some lines.

Martin's character can be as filthy as the rest of them, but his character isn't a bad guy, he's still an enjoyable character.

Re: "The Taliban Shuffle"

Swearing I can live with and let's face it, that's just speaking for Martin!
I could do without the sex...
But what you said about the rest of the film, makes it sound better than I feared.

I can live with that.
Every time Martin swears an angel gets it's wings.

Ok so that's the first time I've heard the word...in reference to this film: dramedy.

Re: "The Taliban Shuffle"

Interesting.  I suppose in a way that's true, it has both serious and comedic elements, but I don't know whether it's a word I'd use to describe it.
