...because Hudders talks quite a lot in that little teaser...
I'll never get over "Hudders", that was too brilliant. The whole staircase scene was.
Yes, same here, "Hudders" is her official name now. And yes again, that staircase scene was and will always be fantastic. One of the best moments ever.
They really should give us drunken Sherlock and John in the Special, come to think of it...

Omg just saw the teaser (where have I been?!?)... omg I LOVE it!!! I was so sceptical but it's perfect!! <3

YEAH, I also watched the teaser just some minutes ago (had to work at the morning). I LOVE IT!!! So many nice allusions to the present episodes.
John: Did you like the story?
Mrs. Hudson: ........... No.
And then the allusion to the "I'm your landlady, not your housekeeper" *ggg*
Unfortunately I haven't understood everything, must watch the teaser more often.
But what I can already say: I prefer Sherlock with curls. Damn!

kornmuhme, I think someone posted a transcript link in the other teaser thread. I also have to concentrate very much to understand everything.
I think the curls fit the modern Sherlock better, but in this version, I can do without. His voice!! It is even better!! And Mrs. Hudson, she is sooo adorable in this.

Well, I have watched the panel -couldn't resist. So many witty questions -and even wittier answers ...awww, bless.

I have read a number of posts here on this thread that have said that the video clip from the Special has the feel of a parody.
I respectfully have to disagree. A parody usually has a mocking tone and I just don't think the creators of BBC Sherlock would ever mock anything to do with the stories of Holmes.
To me, the impression I get from this excerpt is that the Special is more along the lines of a pastiche or a homage, if you will, and definitely will be a work that will happily present a different form (to their modern Sherlock) of the adventures of Holmes and Watson for our viewing pleasure because they love all aspects of it.

@ Ah-chie: Yeas, I agree, it's rather an homage - but I think esp. in homages humour and witty scenes are a must have!

I missed it. How the HELL could I miss it?
Well, I've watched it, now, obviously. And I can hardly wait. Another 6 months, God it'll be long....
And Mrs. Hudson...well, Sabine, I reckon you will have to change your sig to her new catchphrase
Har, har :-)! Will do it later - just as a tribute to the special!

Interesting.

Hm, that was unexpected. I thought they would focus more on an air date than selling the Blu-Ray at this time.
Offline
I suppose they will not sell the DVD before the airdate has been published.

A funny bunch of people over there at the BBC.
It says in the text that as soon as the air date is known they will tell people when the DVD can be pre-ordered.

We must also remember that this is one brief moment from a 90 minute episode. I feel certain that there will also be dramatic/serious/scary/emotional moments in the episode.

Yeah, parody was the wrong word. After a bit of thinking I find meta to fit better. It seems to be more of a meta-episode.
Offline
I get the feeling that there will be enough meta in the special to keep us well occupied until S4.

I don't think theres a need to be picky or concerned about the word parody.
Didn't Gatiss quote recently about the Russian version that -immitaion was the greatest form of flattery.
It's fairly obvious that they are fans and love everything Sherlock Holmes but it's also fairly obvious how much they love to make fun of the many adaptations and various fadoms out there. As they did with TRF theories.
It's a very loving teasing mockery as is every parody(no homo) pastiche(7.% solution) or homage (Granada) of Sherlock ever done.
