Yes, indeed.

For me, we can leave it like that

To me the whole conversation sounds like a playful banter that should not be taken too seriously, but that is hot anyway.

I absolutely agree. I somehow doubt that Benedict does have a rock-solid opinion about it. And while one could argue that in that case he'd better keep his mouth shut up about it, I actually enjoy following his thoughts and ideas about it - and I'm sure he at least partially meant it in a tongue-in-cheek kind of way. And yes, I'd love to hear him say all that stuff.

Benedict would be a great fanfiction writer .

^^ This! Sometimes i think "give that dude a break, people", seriously. Just have to remind myself not to read all the insane twaddle which is out there on the internet.

I thought the whole interview was great. I thought the sex part was hot and funny.
I think Benedict should talk about sex and Sherlock more often.
I think he should record an audiobook for Joy of Sex.
I think he should narrate sex education films.
Ok. I'll leave now.
*heads for the cold shower*
I do absolutely agree with you!!

I am getting really tired of this. Now they published another part of the interview where he mentions again that old fantasy of his of Sherlock and Irene having sex after he saved her life. And again there is the Pavlovian reflex of indignant fans crying murder and putting him on the couch. Did anyone really expect an in-depth analyis of Sherlock's subconscious from this interview? People should look at what is on screen and in the scripts and not at what he is saying tongue-in-cheek when talking to a women's fashion mag. Sigh.

I have just seen that part as well, SusiGo. I am really not sure if i wanna check my BC tumblr tag now

There are also people who find it funny. As I do. But some seem to take it very seriously.

Hmm, some folks should maybe start to worship Ben's wax figure instead, he/it is quiet and silent, they can project all they want on him/it. Cause it seems some peeps in the fandom need just this, an inanimate dummy with no opinions

Brilliant idea.

It seems many people forget we're all in this for fun.
..........And Ben's behind.
*sigh* Back to corner.

Ähm...just to make it clear...
I was not and am not angry with him!
But those words made me gulp and uncomfortable.

Draconia, Harriet and everybody, I didn't read masochism into it. I wonder if we're all seeing different things? (The gif about porn definitely implies masochism - I thought it was really funny that they showed his porn as Irene and Molly slapping his face! Which was what Irene suggested would turn him on. But that's the TV writing and the gif - not what he said in this interview).
The way I read it ... if there is a kink there it's being able to orgasm from the other person's arousal (I ... wouldn't even have to enter). That's Sherlock being so focussed on the woman and her "pleasure" as he coyly puts it, that her arousal might tip him over the edge. I thought that was quite sexy .
Unless you see it as premature ejaculation, of course. But when I did (enter) it would be explosive. Not quite so sexy. Or maybe just a little bit, considering his lack of experience.
Losing control - I don't think he's talking about being controlling or somebody controlling him, but about his self-control, the barriers he puts on his emotions and sexuality. I think he's saying that if it happened he'd let the barriers down, lose control and give way to the full force of his passion. Because he knows it would be necessary (to truly experience that passion), despite being a very dark alley for him . Which again, is on the sexy side of the sexy continuum.
(Maybe this would happen literally in a very dark alley, actually?
Focusing on the woman and her response, and giving way to such passion that he can hardly contain himself - I love it, and I think I'm going to adopt this interview as my version of what Sherlock would be like in that situation.

Which is perfectly alright if that's how it made you feel. I personally wasn't talking about people here. It is a hell of a difference to say "this or that makes me feel uncomfortable" (which is expressing a personal feeling and hence totally legitimate) compared to some of the nastiness directed toward Benedict which i happened to read elsewhere. To quote a tiny bit of lyric of a Bowie song which i love "you show respect, even if you disagree"

I suspect that the people who feel insulter over this (again!) have not a single funny bone in their body.

Well humour is quite a personal thing.
As we've said, we all have a right to feel how we do and criticise if we wish....as long as we are fair.
