I am actually amazed how much the hair and beard changed his facial features... it's like they are even more defined... (okay there may be some makeup involved too... but)

That's definitely a good thing. Marvel movies are best when they're not taking themselves too seriously.

He even looks like the comic! My best friend's boyfriend tried to make some kind of argument that he didn't look like Strange at all... I wonder what Strange he is referring to then!

Well, Hiddles' Loki is more of an anti-hero (you could also call him a baddie...), so I guess you'll get away with this.
