I finally decided that I needed people (other than my immidate family members) to talk to about Sherlock, so here I am. Around a month ago, my mother managed to convince me to watch The Reichenbach Fall, despite my insistiences that firstly, I didn't want to start another series when I have several hundred episodes of Doctor Who left to watch and secondly, that I was certainly not going to start watching in the middle as opposed to from the beginning. She told me that it didn't matter what order one watched the episodes in, so I gave in. Ninety minutes later, my feelings had been torn to pieces and I had learned two things: my mother lies and Sherlock is awesome.
Now that I'm all (chronologically) caught up, I can finally enter the Sherlock fandom without fear of spoilers. Not to mention that, of course, I'm hopelessly addicted to the show, but after a day or so of lurking around here, it looks like I'm going to fit in just fine.

Welcome! Heck of a way to get first pulled in!
Know the feeling about starting 'yet another series', but totally worth it, huh? Have fun!

Hi Miriik, warm welcome here, and enjoy! I also tried to avoid "another series". FAIL!

Hello, Mirrik and welcome to the forum!
Did you ask your mother why she wanted you to watch Reichenbach Fall first? Is this her favourite episode?

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone - it's great to be back on an active, friendly forum.
@Marta: If I recall correctly, it was the episode that my little brother wanted to watch; my mother had already seen it, which makes it quite odd indeed that she told me that the order of the episodes didn't matter. And for some reason, nobody wanted to watch the first episode, so I decided not to make a huge fuss about it (said huge fuss did, however, come after the episode was over ).
By the way, would any of you happen to know if the Blu-ray box set of seasons 1 - 3 that the BBC sells on their website is regionlocked (ha ha) or not? I'd love to have it, but I'd also really rather not accidentally waste my money on something that my Blu-ray player can't read. EDIT: Apparently it is region free!
