Sherlocked, and about time too!

I don't watch much TV, but I can't believe I somehow missed all of Sherlock, despite being told that I would love it!  I watched the first one recently and thought that it was actually very, very good.   I've since watched up to and including "A Scandal In Belgravia" and I think I'm now officially obsessed.  Thank goodness there are people on the internet who are writing about Sherlock, or I'd feel bereft!

Unfortunately, as I've come to this late, I'm way behind the rest of you.  Although I'd happily watch every episode back to back without stopping, starting now, I'm trying to pace myself.   I need time to take it all in, and to enjoy the anticipation of the next episode.   This means I'm going to have to be careful to avoid spoilers, so sadly, won't be able to read or join in all the discussions just yet.

In real life, I'm quite boring.  I have a son, cat and boyfriend, enjoy my job, don't get out enough, am overly risk-averse and the biggest mystery I've ever had to solve is who took my lunch from the work fridge.

I'm pleased to meet you all!

Re: Sherlocked, and about time too!

Thank you for the welcomes!

It's exciting that I still have episodes to watch and I'm trying to prolong the agony, which is making me obsess over "Scandal" a bit too much.   I have "The Hounds of Baskerville" next, and I'm really looking forward to that one.  I loved the Basil Rathbone version.   I hadn't read the original stories, so I'm enjoying those too - amazing how much of the original writing is in the TV series!

I've been stunned by how good the whole thing is: the music, the way it looks, the little details, the writing, the acting.  My only problem is trying to avoid spoilers.  Well, that and trying to find people to talk to about it!

Hello and welcome to the forum! So...who did take your sandwich?

Don't make people into heroes John. Heroes don't exist and if they did I wouldn't be one of them.

Re: Sherlocked, and about time too!

Thank you!  The lunch case was simple really.   It wasn't a theft after all, but a mistake.

My lunch had been purchased, packaged, from a supermarket, and I put it in the fridge in the morning.  There were no similar lunches in the fridge at that point.   When I tried to retrieve it at lunch-time, it was gone.   I searched and found somebody in another office in the building eating an identical lunch.   She said that she had purchased that lunch from the same supermarket, and that she had also put it in the fridge in the morning.

Was she lying?   I asked if there had been a similar lunch in the fridge when she placed hers there.  She said that no, there hadn't been.   That left two possibilities.  One, that she was eating her lunch and my lunch had been stolen by somebody else.  And two, that SHE HAD NEVER PUT HER LUNCH IN THE FRIDGE!.

Oh, and three, that somebody had stolen her lunch, and she was eating mine.

I believed number two to be the solution, and this was confirmed when later in the day, an identical lunch appeared in the fridge.  I believe that the "thief" had forgotten to put her lunch in the fridge.  At lunch-time she had taken what she believed to be her lunch from the fridge.   When I asked her if there had been any similar lunches in the fridge, she pictured the fridge as it was when she took the lunch out.  Later in the day, she found her lunch, realised her mistake, and tried to rectify matters anonymously by putting it in the fridge, hoping that I would think that somebody else had hidden it then replaced it.

Case solved.

Actually, as I'm not Sherlock, I never confronted the person about this, so I hope she doesn't read it!

Re: Sherlocked, and about time too!

This seems like the most probable solution. Hardly worth a confrontation over a sandwich.

Welcome, Liberty, nice to have you here. And you seem to be on a good way as a detective.

Re: Sherlocked, and about time too!

Hi. I'm very late to Sherlock too. I watched Series 1 & 2 online in September 2013 because I was bored and I was hooked. I also fell in love with BC!

My lunch had been purchased...

Sorry, I'm a little late, but this really cracked me up, thank you so much!
