It's funny the number of times you come across a reference to an obsession in the wide wide world. I read an article this week in the Good Weekend magazine from last Saturday's Sydney Morning Herald (a bloody good paper, check out its website) about hoarding and apparently Sherlock, in the books at least, is considered a hoarder because he will not throw out any of his papers. At least in the 21st century he has the internet for reference so doesn't need to keep everything.
