Re: The Hollow Crown: The Wars of the Roses (was "Richard III")

Dark mirror of fate:

-----------------------------------

I cannot live without brainwork. What else is there to live for? Stand at the window there. Was there ever such a dreary, dismal, unprofitable world? See how the yellow fog swirls down the street and drifts across the dun-coloured houses. What could be more hopelessly prosaic and material? What is the use of having powers, Doctor, when one has no field upon which to exert them?

I don't think any wine could soothe Richard...

Re: The Hollow Crown: The Wars of the Roses (was "Richard III")

The mirror scene with Sophie Okonedo was an absolute highlight. Very intimate and compelling, more of a thriller than a history play.

On a PBS website I saw that it would be a "Great Performances" shown either June or July.  Well, I don't think it will be June because my WGBH Member Guide for June does not list it :-(

But it does list the one-hour series finale of "Vicious" on Sunday June 19th at 8:00 pm.  Love that show!

Never seen the latter.
Well I think we tried watching it.
I think my hubby put it off after about 2 minutes...he does that, most annoying!

Re: The Hollow Crown: The Wars of the Roses (was "Richard III")

Not to be off-topic, just had a brief 'Ooh!' moment, reading that last sentence of KP's...  I kept seeing little mentions of that show when it first started, and sounded so neat....  so they did a good job with it?

It would be great if it was on in July, then I'd be home to watch it! But I hope they do show it at some point since they aired the first cycle (though I was not aware of it at the time).  Fingers crossed!
