Re: Benedict in Malaysia

I have no idea what the photo looked like. I only know that he once refused to sign a photoshopped wedding pic showing the fan and himself. Which I fully understand.

Yes, that was the one apparently, zeratul.

Re: Benedict in Malaysia

Solar, I'm sorry if it seemed I was accusing you of making things up earlier - that's honestly not what I meant and I hope I didn't offend you?
I just interpreted the incident in a different way from those who are seeing it as a negative thing (and I know you're not doing that)
At the end of the day, I think he does OK for someone who gets so little privacy - people should respect the fact that celebs don't belong to them, imo.
I know I got a bit too annoyed about it earlier though - so apologies for ranting a bit

Re: Benedict in Malaysia

Tinks, it's all fine, you certainly didn't offend me.
And like I said, in my opinion he has every right to react like that, he still is a human being with an opinion and his own free will. And I'm pretty sure that he was well aware that people might react in a negative way to this - but I admire him for choosing to decide for himself whether he signs everything people hold under his nose or not.
I just wanted to say that yes, I'm sure he saw that picture and made the decision not to sign it.

Re: Benedict in Malaysia

that's a good way of looking at it; at least he's being genuine!

Yes, I like it too, and having seen the photo (and the video) I must say I understand the reaction and he wasn't rude about it, just didn't want to signo something so unflatteringIt's like he doesn't want to sign for autograph hunters even if they can become very rude and agressive and even shout insults at him. Most celebrities don't bother to distinguish between fans and hunters and just sign everything they are given on the line.

Re: Benedict in Malaysia

I've just read your narrative, Le Bear Polar and it sounds great! Congrats, it must have been an amazing expierience  You look happy on the photos, you all do - the fans and Ben!

Actually he was a bit behaving like a kid, running away from the bad photo. Nobody likes ugly photos of himself... well still not sure why she picked this one...

This was exactly my thought when I saw the video. Before that, I thought he was rude not to sign the photo someone gave him and didn't expect him to be so vain. But then I saw him literally running away from that photo and coming back to the other side where people were holding beautiful drawings instead. It was a genuine reaction and I realised famous people rarely are genuine, they automaticly sign everything they are given and are kind because it's what they are supposed to be. I'm not saying his behavior was good or bad (I'm glad to hear he didn't hurt the fan's feelings) but it takes courage to always be yourself and say what you think when you're famous, and it's risky.

Re: Benedict in Malaysia

Ben looked soooo good on the pit today. He mustve been so excited!
So regarding the jilted picture, well it was very unfortunate because we all agreed bforehand tjat it was a rather cute pic, but Ben certainly didnt think so! Which is hilarious if it didn't meant that the poor girl went home empty handed. I don't fault him for turning her down, i just think it was a bit unfortunate. She came all the way from Bangkok for it.

I chronicled my little encounter on my blog, after getting some details straightened out (things get fuzzy when you're standing so close to Ben). Do have a read sioweelin.wordpress.com

Re: Benedict in Malaysia

I don't know how I missed the majority of the posts here the past couple days…..  I'm melting!!      So glad got to hear about another great little moment like that, despite being wistful.  Thanks.  And yeah… must be hard tackling the crowds, yet still so humorously open.  When I watched the posted clip, the following one was posted in the youtube sidebar, of the actual event.  It's a little bit of a shame, because someone took the time to record all the Ben-presenting bits and upload them, and this is a compilation of all of them together someone else did… the commenters give credit, at least.  And he's just as awesomely easy-going amusing (and polite) with his quips as we've come to know, so I thought you guys would appreciate it.

He did  He looked professional and so fresh like it wasn't hot there at all.

Thank you Russell for the video. Never too much of Benedict. I liked that he wasn't dead serious (loved the math joke  ) but remained respectful and polite.

I know!  One of my favorite traits about.  I got a kick out of the 'washing machine' bit, myself.
