I was glad they noted the one that really jumped out at me: Sherlock's personal revulsion and hatred toward CAM (to a degree unusual for him, not shown toward all villains) mirrors Holmes' attitude toward Milverton in the original. A favorite theory of Johnlockers is that Milverton had something on Holmes: a gay relationship in the past or the Holmes-Watson relationship.

The theory comes from Holmes seeming to take the whole thing personally...which Sherlock here does also, saying that CAM picks on people who are different. He would know!
