Geez, they're really messing around with a possible series 4 airdate. Now apparently Moffat said in an interview (that I couldn't find -- not that I've looked extensively) that series 4 might not return until 2016: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/sherlock-might-not-return-to-the-bbc-until-2016-9106686.html

Kinda sounds to me like they're just trying not to get the fans' hopes up, especially since it's been hinted that that it might air as early as Christmas this year. Give them a worst case scenario, and then they'll be happy if it happens half a year earlier than expected.

Also.... we should have learned never to trust ANYTHING Moffat says.

I am trying to tell myself that as long as it is coming at all I'm happy... But it would be nice to have at least a clear indication of at least a time of a specific year... Just to ease my mind.

Ah, great photo Michele.

I think 2016 is realistic. Seems it's likely they won't even start filming it this year.
Anyway, earlier would be nice of course.

I don't know, that's kind of a stretch. Just a month ago, Moffat or Gatiss said they haven't even written series 4 yet. It takes weeks to set up a shoot, and much of the preparation only happens after you have a final script (like location scouting, casting supporting roles, etc.).

It just seems way too soon for Benedict to already be preparing for Sherlock. It's most likely another role. (Also, his hair is way too short right now! )

At this point I'd say: definitely not this year and probably the beginning of 2016. They'll have us wait two years again, you'll see.
