I'm still not sure what to make of Sherlock's look when John says "You should have got married" to him and Mary...
Whatever he is thinking... his look again...

I still think he knows John married a female version of him.

Exactly, besley!

I know we can all be guilty of over -analysing things - do you think BC wanted us to interpret anything from this look or should we just take it as it is - a very sick and struggling Sherlock (note the slow eyelids and pursed lips) looking at his emotional and angry best friend?

Yes.

Everyone sees what he/she likes to see. Let them.

Oh I know everyone enjoys trying to piece together all the little nuances and quirks in each story, I'm one of them ;)
I just thought I'd throw into the hat the plain old view that maybe...there's nothing to be gleaned from it.
Incidentally, I saw the whole sequence from Leinster Gardens through to Baker Street as Sherlock desperately trying to save Johns heart. By showing John all the evidence and helping him decide. And it really hurt him to see John hurt, I came away from it feeling most sad for Sherlock, for the emotional trauma he was going through - it could have been easy for him to just say " look at your lying murdering wife, here come back to me and my life can be normal again." But he didn't, he let john go.
I think there will always be three in this relationship, Mary is kind of married to the both of them!

Of course we'll never know if Benedict wanted us to interpret anything from his look or not, but then again I tend to believe that as an actor he does everything for a reason. There would have been other possibilities to react to John's words, he just could have ignored them or looked at Mary or on the ground or whatever.
But I kind of like this idea:

Yes, Sherlock did go to great lengths to present all the evidence to John, but not in order to drive him away from Mary. He obviously wanted to help John and Mary to fix this and make sure that they stay together.

My last deed before I switch off the computer for the night, because there needs to be more John appreciation, and, well... because I can.

Aand… you guys have now thoroughly thudded me, looking through this thread all at once. Seriously, this is one of my favorite episodes for beautifully done camera work with different shots of the boys (and locations!) Isn't it? Hee… couldn't help but notice they're mainly Holmes/Watson-centric, though. Really like one of the styles they did, from another character's point of view, of them. Pressure points, anyone?

Great shots!

Why doesn't Mrs Hudson have a porn preference?

I'd rather she did and Sherlock didn't!

Lol. And, um, oops. Catching up on a gazillion great threads about this ep, and seems as though there's already one dedicated to discussion about that part/those pictures in particular, about the pressure points! Sorry… something different, then…
Out of the episodes, three of my favorite incredibly well-done cameos, ever…
The little boy…
The odd parents…
And the crazy man locked away in his head…
Just… dang… seriously, their performances! (…not to forget Billy, of course… the awesome nod-to-canon amusingly quippy protege )

He stole the show!
