Re: The "Good News" thread

Well, Schmiezi, I'm excited and sceptical at the same time. Alex Kurtzman has been involved in some pretty great stuff on tv (and of course the last two Star Trek movies), but there is also stuff that's just plain boring (to me). I hope he and also CBS know what they're doing. I'm a bit sad that Paramount isn't involved anymore, but then again... they cancelled that last show after four seasons.

Re: The "Good News" thread

I can't stop smiling right now.

I've been learning Dutch online for a while... and I thought I was doing okay... but sometimes seeing Dutch people talk on TV I got so lost... they talk so fast! But I was just channel surfing and realized they were speaking Dutch in some documentary... the documentary itself is so boring but I'm watching it intensely. I actually understand what they're saying!!

Granted, the older man seems to work on pronouncing the words and doesn't have a strong dialect...

Re: The "Good News" thread

I just won a £100 gift card!!

I have a limited option for where I can spend it, but I can exchange it for one to restaurants, even sushi places!

I'm set for food for a long time now!!

I had no clue how I would feed myself this month... you can get a lot of kebabs and pizzas for that!!

Hmmm, are those two doses of that famous "Sherlock" tea? They look fabulous!

Re: The "Good News" thread

Indeed they are, nakahara!

It's almost too bad I don't like coffee, I'd have ordered the coffee cups they've made, the're rather nice as well. If there was a Sherlockian in the family other than myself, that would make a very decent Christmas present. I have tried to convert some of them, but so far they've only said that (BBC Sherlock) is cool.
Humpf. That's too much of an understatement, if you ask me.

But those mugs are so cool, I felt I had to have them, regardless of the lack of space there is in my cupboard

Re: The "Good News" thread

Beautiful mugs Lily!

I already spent a little of my gift card on some headphones... my good ones broke, and I need them to drown out noise from my neighbours and to relieve anxiety.
The rest will be spent on food! Fastfood isn't the most healthy, but you can find the healthier choices... and sushi is never bad!

A few weeks back I also won a smaller gift card and got the Sherlock calendar and some TARDIS earrings... The day before the headphones broke...

I still can't believe my luck!

Re: The "Good News" thread

This is such a great way of treating yourself! No one can go wrong with a Sherlock calendar, and anything in the shape of a police phone box
And food.

Re: The "Good News" thread

How wonderful you had a bit of luck lately, Phantom! I'm happy for you.
Lily, those mugs are lovely! Have a couple of "Glühwein" if you don't like coffee.

I have very good news as well: Last week I finally passed my final exam to become a specialised pediatrician. Now all the years in the hospital with tiresome shifts finally pay off. And there is a new job at the horizon, but with regular working times and no night shifts.

Re: The "Good News" thread

Big Congratulations from me, mrshouse! You worked very hard for this, and with three children! You have my deepest admiration =). I keep my fingers crossed for that job, it sounds just perfect!

Re: The "Good News" thread

Congratulations from me, too, mrshouse! That's wonderful news - and I hope that everything will work out perfectly with the new job. A bit of a change can be such a good thing... I changed into another department (or should I say: division?) six weeks ago, and this is the best thing that happened to me in ages, job-wise. So, good luck to you, too!
