Thank you.

Amanda didn't know Mary was an assassin about to shoot Sherlock when she was working on TEH and TSoT.
Just saying. :-)

Another valuable point.

True, and I don't think they tell everybody everything (there was Mark's comment in the TAB interview about inadvertently letting something slip to Benedict - implying that they don't like to give the actors the burden of keeping major secrets until closer to the time!). So there is definitely the possibility of the writers having something up their sleeve that the actors don't know about.
The trouble with that is that the idea of Johnlock seems to be that the actors are on board and that these highly talented actors are clueing us in (by giving us "eye sex" to use an example above). These two ideas are incompatible.

And totally incompatible with Mark's Mumbai interview.

"It is the gayest story in the history of TV. It's a love story - these two people who love and need each other in a slightly dysfunctional relationship." (Martin Freeman)

This. :-D

I know I've said it before, but I don't think Martin would have used that expression if he thought they were being shown as lovers - it would be odd (and also clearly untrue, because if this was a gay relationship, it's certainly not shown as very gay compared to others - they don't even kiss!). It also wouldn't fit in with the other things he says about the show (for instance, that their relationship is platonic). The second sentence is just what we're shown on screen (whether you think of them as platonic or not).

And he doesn't write the show, Mark does...and I believe he was being amusing,as is Martin's way.

Yes, Martin clearly never says anything that can be taken seriously.

Well it seems some don't trust what Mark says.

And it seems some trust every single word he says.

(Hand up) Guilty as charged.

Oh, I'm sure we all are aware of that.

Good.

I don't trust every word, but I do think he's sincere in the Mumbai interview. And that has thrown me a little, because I've been thinking that although I don't see Johnlock so far, they could find a way to bring it in. But that interview makes it seem pretty definite. I'd be surprised if he changed his mind after that. There are ways that he could have got out of the question, or left it ambiguous, but he seemed to be keen to make that point. And I'm trying to think of the timing, but it wasn't that long ago - he must have known what was going to happen in S4 while he was saying it.
I suppose we'll know either way in a few months, and rather sadly, this thread might die a death!

Sometimes I feel the latter will never happen.

Well, I don't think we will get a definitive answer until last season is over. And I hope S4 isn't the last season.

I'd read that Johnlock was going to happen in S4, according to fans ... but maybe not all Johnlockers hold that belief?

I think the hope is there for every season.
