Star Trek Into Darkness Blu-ray/DVD editions

Hello!

I was going through my Tumblr dashboard and I saw this link posted by muchadoaboutbenedict:

PARAMOUNT HAS A BLU-RAY PROBLEM
http://www.thedigitalbits.com/columns/my-two-cents/082813_1415

The main point about the article is stated in the following paragraph:

That’s right: More than half of the special features created for Star Trek Into Darkness were used by Paramount’s marketing team as retailer exclusives

So I will try and find all the info available about the different DVD/Blu-ray editions available. I would appreciate if the different users of this forum could contribute with information about the editions available in their countries. Please include format (DVD or Blu-ray), Region (1 to 8 for DVD's - A,B or C for Blu-rays) and TV  format (NTSC/PAL).

If you buy an edition (when the DVD/Blu-ray is released), please inform us the “amount of Benedict” featured in the extras.

Thanks in advance.

This has all got me very torn.  I've been waiting eagerly to buy this the minute it hit the stores but damn I don't want to miss out on exras.  I consider extras the greatest thing since the invention of Nutella.

Me too!
The worst part is that according to the review linked in my 2nd post, the BestBuy extras must be watched online. Although I could buy the BestBuy Bluray through a PO Box in Miami, I most probably won't be able to stream the extras from Chile (I suspect they will be blocked outside the US). The Canadian BestBuy Bluray edition will have the extras on a disc but I can't buy the Canadian edition from here 😥

Re: Star Trek Into Darkness Blu-ray/DVD editions

I am very annoyed about their marketing strategy. I would gladly pay more for a decent blue ray release with all the package of bonuses, but seeing what they try to do, for now I decided to wait and see how the situation develops. I think some Robin Hood like action among the fans is called.

I'll get the Blu-ray as I always do  Extras are nice, but I buy it for the movie.

YES!  Just charge a little bloody more.  The people who want the full package won't mind paying it.

I can understand having a no frills dvd and blueray for those that JUST want the movie.  But this splitting up the extras is just insane (greedy)

I agree! Sell a "standard" edition for those who want only the movie and a "collector's edition" at a higher price with ALL the extras for those of us that want the full package. But splitting out the extras in different editions is madness.

Re: Star Trek Into Darkness Blu-ray/DVD editions

Exactly. Even most dedicated fan doesn't need three or four editions of the same film, just to get access to the bonuses. It is a clear sign of disrespect towards the customers and if at this point some people will just go searching for contents uploaded on internet, I won't feel like condemning them for piracy.

Re: Star Trek Into Darkness Blu-ray/DVD editions

So far I have seen the BestBuy extras and the Target extras (thanks to the generous people on Tumblr) and I'm disappointed for the small amount of Benedict featured. Of course the "Safety First" video might be the best extra content ever included on a Blu-ray but still.

I haven't seen yet the extras included in the "standard" Blu-ray edition so I would appreciate if someone who has could comment about them.

I love Zach too!

I really enjoyed his scenes with Benedict. They are both very talented and very handsome. It was a delight to see them together.
