Re: What are you reading at the moment?

Christian Grey has already been cast, thank goodness.

I wouldn't want to see Benedict go near that... as much as I think he should do what he likes. But gosh.. NO. Not this!!

Just something I saw on Twitter..it didn't say which role...but I am seriously hoping it was a joke.

Re: What are you reading at the moment?

I think a long while back someone mentioned him as a possibility for the main male character...

I wouldn't mind seeing him in something of that sort... but please something with a propper story line!

Re: What are you reading at the moment?

Maybe it was wishful thinking from 'someone off the internet'.

It doesn't really seem to be the type of story Benedict would choose. I mean, didn't he choose Sherlock and TIG because of the scripts? I do not believe anyone could choose Fifty Shades based on the script, it just cannot be done.

But hell I know, I don't know him. Maybe he'd done so many good stories that now he wants to do something terrible just to show us that he can be terrible too.

Re: What are you reading at the moment?

I know he's said he'd like to play someone stupid soon...

But I can't see him seeing anything in a script like this.

Re: What are you reading at the moment?

It has not only been cast, but filmed, I believe, and out in the next couple of months (I'm sure I saw some publicity about it coming out for Valentine's Day).

I think the part would be a waste of his talents, as Grey is pretty much a cardboard cutout.  Although I'm sure a talented actor like him could bring something to it that isn't in the books.  I don't imagine there was any danger of him being cast, though.

Re: What are you reading at the moment?

He could still have a minor part in it... the butler perhaps... but no matter what I really wouldn't want to see him in it. It feels like it would be beneath him

Re: What are you reading at the moment?

Yes, it is out (how utterly inappropriate)  on Valentine's Day. Not read the book. Will not go to see the film. I am sure Benedict will not be having anything to do with this particular poison chalice. If you want to read something along the same lines but actually well-written (and not derivative, badly-written fan fiction) then try Eleven Minutes by Paul Coelho (in trans.) Definitely over 18 material though.

Re: What are you reading at the moment?

There's kinky Sherlock fanfiction that's better than 50 shades. Not that that's very hard with such a low standard. Honestly, I love reading, I've read a lot of books, this was definately one of the worst books I've ever read and it's not because of the kink. The kink was the only thing that was mildly interesting about it.

I can't believe Benedict will be involve with this. And if he is, I think he'll regret it later.

Re: What are you reading at the moment?

If Ben was in it... I think it would be the one of his films I wouldn't want to watch (like I regret watching him in Atonement)

Before I get The Hobbit for Christmas I think I am going to start reading 'Breakfast on Pluto' by Patrick McCabe.
I have missed that book so much... I used to read it over and over again a few years back!

He was in fact he was too good... which is why I regret watching it.

I really wanted to read Atonement before I saw the film...but I didn't manage.
I love Benedict in it.

Re: What are you reading at the moment?

The book's good - I think I preferred it, to be honest.  I read it when it came out (I was a long-standing Ian McEwan fan) so there was a bit of a gap between reading it and seeing the film.  It's now a long time since I've seen both so I can't comment too much on the differences!

Re: What are you reading at the moment?

I've read the book before watching the film, and I disliked both, TBH. I can't put my finger on why I didn't like it. Maybe because it left me with such a negative feeling. Like a feel-good movie in reverse.

Re: What are you reading at the moment?

Even though I liked them both, Schmiezi, I think I know what you mean.  Do you like his other books?  I like the ones I've read, but they can be quite bleak, I think - quite a pessimistic view of humanity.  One of them I had to put aside for months before I could finish it, and I don't usually feel that way about books (I don't mean I was bored, but that the book was making me uncomfortable).  It's quite disturbing that Lola marries Paul, but somehow believable -  it's certainly not the sort of thing you usually see in stories.  And the fact that things can never really be put right in the story.   A "feel-bad" story, maybe .
