Re: Have any of you read this one? 221 Bravo Baker

I read it and really loved it!
The combination of case (surprising twists!) and Johnlock is very well achieved.
I wholly recommend it.

Mrs Hudson: "They don’t matter. You do."

I BELIEVE IN SERIES 5!

Now that we are talking Johnlock ...

I tried to do just that (combining a case fic with a developing Johnlock story line) in "Crossing Bridges". I wonder what you guys think about it.

I think it was perfect!

Just like tobeornot221b said, it was a wonderful balanced story with an interessting case and a gently developing Johnlock relationship. Loved it  And IMO it included sex scenes in just the right amount  .

I agree with Whisky and kittyhawk, sometimes too much (graphical) sex scenes can be annoying in a story because the plot developement comes to a halt. I love PILAR for example but it would have worked better (for me) with a few sex scenes left out. Towards the end, I sometimes thought "Yes, we know they are mad for each other, can we please go on with the story now." There is a saying in German "Weniger ist manchmal mehr" (fewer is sometimes more). I think some authors might got carried away sometimes in their Johnlock enthusiasm (not that I would blame them  ). But as I said 'Crossing Bridges' is perfect.

"Less is more" is actually a saying in English, as well...

I liked it, too, Schmiezi. But then I am not very objective.

Re: Have any of you read this one? 221 Bravo Baker

Thank you so much!

Actually, I spend days and days with planing the Case plot and the relationship plot and how they should develope in relation to each other. I am so glad to hear that it worked out the way I hoped.

In case PILAR stands for Performance in a Leading Role I can now say (having finally read it) that im my opinion there's a world of difference between how the sex scenes are handled in PIALR and 221BBaker, though both are rated "Explicit" (the rating system is not precise enough, I think). For me PIALR is "slash" - feelings, love and its physical expression. 221BBaker is "porn" - fucking, body parts and fluids. But I believe most people no longer make the distinction?

221BBaker is still a nice story, I just skip over the sex...

Re: Have any of you read this one? 221 Bravo Baker

I do agree a lot of their sex scenes in the fic is 'fucking', but honestly after suffering so much with the show I feel like the boys need some of that hahah! And I can feel the love between them even in those instances. I don't think they'd be the types that go all cheesy and oversaccarine over each other anyway.

And on this note, AbudantlyQueer's AO3 page wasn't loading this morning!??! ARGG!!
