Re: Johnlock Fic Recs *warning - adult content*

Finished The Quiet Man by ivyblossom for the first time yesterday.
It was lovely spending all that time in John Watson's head.
Especially the last few chapters.

I liked this shorter one very much:

"Up or Artistic Lush" by speranza - you should know that the title of the story and all chapters are anagrams. Just read this in the afterword but nice to know if you want to have a go before.

When I started this thread just over a year and a half ago, I knew the forum needed a Johnlock fic rec list, but wow! I see on the forum's main page that this thread has now had 76,759 viewings-- the most by far of any I've seen. I guess that confirms it-- Johnlock forever!

Thanks again, ag, for opening this wonderful thread.
May I please draw your attention to Silent Auror - a wonderful author specialising in series 3 fix-its and really … good Johnlock stuff (this being typical British understatement). Some stories have already been mentioned here and I can truly recommend everything I have read so far.

Oh wow.  Just realized I bookmarked Shallow Grave yesterday to read.
Have you read that one Susi?

Thank you so very much for starting this thread, AG. It is one of the few I've suscribed. Don't know what I would have done without it.

No, wait. I know exactly.
Let me think about that incident three weeks ago, when I was searching for good fanfic on AO3. I stumbled over so many pairings I never wanted to know about ... One about a happy threesome with John, Sherlock and Mycroft. One about Lestrade and Mrs Hudson which was tagged "BDSM". One in which Mary's child turns out to be Sherlock's ...

Thank you for preventing us all to stumble over stuff like that on a regular base.

Oh, no!  All of that sounds truly scary. I know exactly what you mean, about going on a blind search for something decent to read. I love fic rec lists like this one, since finding out what others have enjoyed often helps me find something to read too. We Johnlockers need to stick together.

This is actually only a rec list. Wholocked also maintains a Johnlock master list, for those who are interested. I haven't visited that thread (I need to, though), so I'm not sure how she has it labeled or organized.  Worth checking out, for sure.

You are dead to me AG! (Good to see you, love!)

The Masterlist is separated by series or single chapter but otherwise it's just in order of rec. it's getting a bit unwieldy though so i think it may need an overhaul!

I actually haven't been reading a lot of fan fic lately. I watch too much TV, and that takes up my day. I do love to find a Johnlock story that I can get lost in, though, a long novel-length thing that grabs me and won't let me go. I've just opened SilentAura's Vena Cava, and hopefully I'll enjoy that. I think I've turned very fussy lately about what I read.  Dunno.  Anyway, thanks for what you do for Johnlock and for the forum, wholocked.  You're appreciated.

Re: Johnlock Fic Recs *warning - adult content*

I shall have to check out these SilentAuror's fics, although the name does sound familiar so I'm sure I've touched on her stuff at some point.

I was about to list my favourite longfics from the Masterlist but realised that would be about half the list! If you haven't already, you must read PIALR, the Tennis series', A Cure for Boredom (if you like explicit), The Green Blade, The Quiet Man and if you don't mind WIPs you should definitely read EarlGreyTea68's Nature & Nurture (it's parentlock).

Those are my favs anyway, off the top of my head.

BTW, if your tastes are getting fussy, post what you're looking for. I'm sure someone has read something that will fit!

And thanks

Thanks. I've read all of those except The Green Blade, which I don't remember. N&N is a WIP, and is very very long-- I think she's in the mid-50s in chapter length already, with no end in sight.  I would add to that list abundantlyqueer's fic I forget the name of, where John is an Army officer in Afghanistan and Sherlock comes onboard as a civiilan consultant.  Pretty much, within a half hour of meeting, the sex and then the love start. I found it to read almost like fantasy at a few points, with the two of them carrying on under the noses of John's men, etc. But I'm a sucker for forever, so it worked for me. If anyone wants to read it, go back to page one of this thread; it's one of the first things I ever recced here.

That's Two Two One Bravo Baker

And yes N&N is a WIP but totally worth it. We keep trying to convince her that it should never end so...

Re: Johnlock Fic Recs *warning - adult content*

Two Two One Bravo Baker is really good.

And I love N&N so much which I never expected because the idea sounded so weird. But it is one of the most beautiful fics out there. And she updates regularly.

I am so in love with Nature and Nurture right now!  Baby Oliver!  *squee*

Can anyone tell me a little about The Green Blade?  I know I've heard of it.

The Green Blade was (I think) the first Sherlock fic by verityburns. It is pre-slash and a case fic. Lovely written.

I'll look for the link, just one moment.
