Hm, I would say: wait and see. At the moment Daniel Craig is the perfect James Bond for me (and I know that a lot people still have their problems with him as Bond). I don't really see Benedict as Bond right now, but who knows...

Ben might not be quite old enough yet. I have a friend who loves Ben/Sherlock but says he'd never be chosen as a JB because he's not the right type physically (facially).  I looked up on the internet to check who's played Bond in the past, and a couple of decades ago, one of the movie Bonds was David Niven. So not everyone's been hunky craggy types. Anyway, whether or not he has the face for it, Ben certainly has the smarts, class and physical quickness and strength to do it. Not to mention the way he wears a tux and a suit. Yum.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

I hate Bond films and don't want him to play Bond, but I know he wants to.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Well, talk about timing with coming across this Toronto party pic to share.....  Bond, tuxes, and women?  We already know he has the charm.       (and no, I'm not too sure of Bond either, but the picture kind of evokes that).

I'm working my way up the greasy pole.  It's… very greasy.  And…  pole-shaped.

And almost everything I hate about Bond films...not the individuals here obviously, but the image.

I feel funny today. A glimpse of upside-down Sherlock.

He does? He's said that? I think for a smart, dapper, British male actor, it might seem like the epitome of macho now-I've-made-it roles.

Yup. He could use another 10 years on him, so his face gets that middle-aged world-weary but on top of things look that the Bond guys have always sported, and he'll be perfect.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

If he decides to do it (in case he is offered the job) there would always be the risk of constantly being identified with Bond.
"Sherlock" is big already and people identify him with this role but it is known for an intelligent skript and good acting.
I am not quite sure whether that can be said about Bond. It is just an action movie. Nothing bad about that, but the danger is much bigger to get into stereotype casting. Seeing it from the perspective of an actor you would probably do it in spite of all that because you see it as a chance, a challange and you would think that you are able to get rid of a Bond-image. Not sure if that is true though.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Well, as far as I know Daniel Craig has signed on for at least two more movies, so the next opportunity for Benedict would only come in about...five, six years. Who knows where he will be by then, in terms of his career, his private life, his choices. If he is a huge star by then, he ceratinly would not be pinned down to the Bond-image alone.
I could imagine though that he'll be offered the role of one of the next baddies... if he'd accept that, he'd never be able to play Bond in the future, though. Just doesn't happen.

I really love to see him in character-driven movies, but as we've seen in STID: action suits him pretty good, as well.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

The hair! Gorgeous. And that totally un-Khan-like smile.

Prepare for a big one, ladies:

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Yeah, he doesn't really look like himself in that pic, but he doesn't really look like Khan, either. The little smile, his look, his hair and that little cut on his cheek... it's just not decent!

As for the 'big one': far more serious and maybe a bit less tasty. But his eyes...!

That's also my favourite from this bunch, and actually one of my favourite ben's pics.

Comes from a Japanese magasine if I understood well.
