Beckham at least looks better than Rooney. And I didn't mean "English soccer" but that he is English and plays soccer. LOL A bit confusing this football and soccer stuff.

I found this on Wiki:
The rules of association football were codified in England by the Football Association in 1863 and the name association football was coined to distinguish the game from the other forms of football played at the time, specifically rugby football. The term soccer originated in England, first appearing in the 1880s as an Oxford "-er" abbreviation of the word "association".[6]
Within the English-speaking world, association football is now usually called football in the United Kingdom, and mainly soccer in Canada and the United States. Other countries, such as Australia and New Zealand, may use either or both terms.

Thanks very much, I never knew where the term soccer came from. In German we call it "Fußball" which is a literal translation of football.

The clippered no.2 haircut may have been for a role of course. Oh no! He does not look like Wayne Rooney, not even with his hair that short.

Sorry but that was my first thought. Must have been the hair.

He really does look like one of those matinee idols from the 50s there, doesn't he. I appreciate that they didn't make his eyes blue.

Dear gods. I had to run over here and sneak another look. My boss just told me about "this English guy who is playing Sherlock on the BBC being in the new Star Trek movie" and all I could do is blush like a fangirl. Well, that secret's out of the bag. lol

See, this is what I've been looking forward to, that FINALLY Americans would find out who the intriguing-looking British guy with the strange name is. I don't think many of us found Sherlock during its very brief appearance on PBS months and months and months ago. And he had small parts in movies like War Horse-- just another Brit on a horse, with a teeny tiny part. So with the release of the ST movie, most of us will now get an opportunity to figure out that weird name, put a face to it, and hopefully want MORE MORE MORE! Yay!
