I cannot live without brainwork. What else is there to live for? Stand at the window there. Was there ever such a dreary, dismal, unprofitable world? See how the yellow fog swirls down the street and drifts across the dun-coloured houses. What could be more hopelessly prosaic and material? What is the use of having powers, Doctor, when one has no field upon which to exert them?

I googled a bit and found out that the car is an MG GTS crossover in bright orange. Have a look here:

It looks like Benedict is making deductions from the mud...

Thanks for the info about the car. We spent a half hour on the internet yesterday evening, searching for what it might be, and got nowhere. We figured it was a Brit-manufactured car, but couldn't seem to get our heads out of Vauxhall land.

And yes, I think that was meant to be Sherlock (but in the wrong coat, lol) deducing about the dirt on the side of it.

I can't find the commercial anywhere to watch it properly, does anyone know where it has been uploaded? It looks like a Japanese watermark on the gifs.

The Dunlop tires campaign is apparently a Taiwanese thing. So maybe the Asian characters are Chinese? ??

Yes, nakahara thought it was a Chinese commercial, I don't know why I thought it was Japanese as I should know the difference having been to both countries! (I don't know about Taiwanese). I think I was influenced by some misinformation I read while I was googling

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

The quick way how to discern between both writing systems - the Japanese writing systems will have simplified "hiragana" signs between an elaborate Chinese characters, most frequently this little and neat "no" sign meaning "of" in English:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_%28kana%29

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiragana

So the Japanese text, being a combination of elaborate looking and simple looking signs, will look like this:

While Chinese text will look definitely more elaborate:

There´s hardly any simple looking sign in this text. And the above-mentioned "no" sign is not to be seen anywhere.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Aaah, I see I wasn't too far away in my deduction about this being a Sherlock inspired thing...

In a way I find it a bit odd... but none the less, Ben looks HAWT in it!

As he doesin that picture with his white shirt... wow
