Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

He hates it? Has he said as much, that he hates paparazzi? I can imagine it must be strange, having weird guys on motorcycles follow you around and snap pictures, sometimes at great risk to themselves, but....in the US anyway, celebs who choose to live and work and have their being in LA or NYC know that paparazzi is just what comes along with celebrity. If they hate it that much, they take their families and go live in Connecticut or San Francisco.

I don't think when someone (anyone) is out and about on the street, walking from their car to a restaurant, or from a parking lot to an office building, or strolling on a public beach, wherever the paparazzi find their subjects, can rightly be called "private". In fact, in the US, the paparazzi are constitutionally protected to do what they do in public places, as long as they don't endanger anyone, including themselves.

I do like paparazzi shots, because I'm interested in the celebrity, I'm nosy and I admit it, and I enjoy seeing what they've been up to in their RL. Sorry, this is off-topic. I've said my piece, and so I'll leave it.

No paparazzi shots please. As Susi mentioned it's private. Though I like those beach shots for example I don't support this kind of pics.

lol  I can tell you guys don't live in the US. The paparazzi are here to stay, it's big business, and pap photos are *everywhere*, even in the legit press, and on TV.  They're actually expected, and as long as no one's being endangered, well....  we eat that stuff up. Someone in this country who is offended by paparazzi better never read a magazine or watch TV is all I got to say.

Oops, and I said this was off topic and I was gonna shut up. Sorry.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Of course you can't avoid it all the time. But I don't especially like the photos taken on private ground, paparazzi climbing on trees or whatever. And I am not interested in photos taken of celebs hurrying down a street. Even not if it's Benedict.

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

Just because paps are everywhere, doesn't make it right...though supposedly, after Princess Diana's death, there are stricter rules imposed on them in Europe.
Everyone should have the right to walk down a street without a camera being shoved in their face - I'd hate it if someone snapped me just going about my business - I'd find it grossly intrusive and disrepectful and I don't see why it should be any different for celebs when they're off-duty.

But it is different for them, and it goes with the territory. And as I said, if a celeb really objects to it, then they can live and raise their family where there aren't any paparazzi-- it's not hard to do. Meryl Streep lived and raised her kids in Connecticut, and no one saw her family until they were like 40 years old, lol. So it is possible to do.

I don't know if he's explicitly said he hates paparazzi, but I remember this one incident where a very persistent photographer kept taking pictures even after Ben had asked him not to, and this eventually resulted in the (more or less) infamous sign he held up that said something like, "Go and take photos of something important, like what's happening in Egypt." If that doesn't say he doesn't condone paparazzis, then I don't know what would.

If they hate it that much, they take their families and go live in Connecticut or San Francisco.

Yeah, I'm sure that's every actor's dream -- having to move somewhere very remote to protect their right for privacy, and then being away hundreds of miles from where most of the work is.

I don't think when someone (anyone) is out and about on the street, walking from their car to a restaurant, or from a parking lot to an office building, or strolling on a public beach, wherever the paparazzi find their subjects, can rightly be called "private".

Let me ask this question: Would you like it if you were constantly being followed around by people taking pictures of you when you're out doing something mundane like grocery shopping, looking for new shoes, enjoying a night out in the cinema, taking your kids to school, etc.? Would you like it if you always had to second-guess yourself to ensure you're not doing something in public that could be misinterpreted if captured on photo or video? Would you honestly not mind at all?

Perhaps that's the price you have to pay these days for being recognized in the entertainment industry, but IMHO that still doesn't make it okay to support paparazzism. Just my two cents...

Re: Favourite Sherlock/Benedict pictures

If you are a fan of someone,of course you'd like to see any new photos of them. But if the celebrity's bodylanguage is clearly saying that they don't want to have their photo taken then I think it should not posted anywhere.
I ve seen many pap photos of Ben where you can clearly tell that he doesn't want them to be taken,he's avoiding raising his eyes and looks all around annoyed. These pics are not enjoyable for me. He's not a public property.
