Hey kittykat!

Can you get to Birmingham at all, or is that too far? Manchester would be alright I think as long as someone didn't mind me napping on a sofa...

Anyone still interested in this at all? Even though it's near the end of October now...

I'd definitely be interested in the HHGTTG event. It's one of my favourite books and I loved the BBC radio drama, haha.

I do have some baking proficiency, so maybe? :D haha.

Oh, I got to see Roger Allam in The Tempest this summer! It was a fantastic performance. I hope you don't mind, but I'm a bit of a Shakespeare fan and I have an RSC associate membership which comes in useful from time to time...
It was amusing in my mind though, because I'm not sure if you've heard of a BBC radio drama called Cabin Pressure, but I was continually imagining it was Douglas! I think that's a good sign that I may have listened to too much of that...

I did see Into The Woods at Regent's Park a while ago and I have to say, that was truly amazing... the atmosphere and way the audience was drawn into it.

Well, if you don't mind a road trip, I was more than happy to take one or two people up to Birmingham to look at all that stuff. I know the city fairly well and one half of my family come from that area... It's easy to drive there and I can park in the city for the whole day really cheaply (£2.50 in one centre car park). Birmingham has a nice cultural history as well, compared to London. Plenty to feed my geek side. I certainly wouldn't mind investigating the convention either...

I'm guessing you've been to Stratford-upon-Avon as well (the RSC home)?

Hi Anna! I'm interested as well!

I actually had no idea about the upcoming Museum of London exhibit at all, so great find!

Did you see my post about the Frankfurt Market that's also in Birmingham? If you end up going to that Sherlock event there, you might enjoy looking through that too as I always love it...

I live pretty close to London, btw. :D

Oh yes, and I think the V&A is amazing too. One of my favourite places and I love the metalwork and materials collections in particular...

I agree, looking forward to what they've found. It was from a Bulgarian TV station I think?

Sherlockian Merchandise » BBC Sherlock figurines? » October 8, 2013 8:56 pm

Those look fantastic!

Pray though, that the BBC don't end up using Character Options to mass-produce a bunch of BBC Sherlock figures, the same that they do for Doctor Who. I've never seen anything more cheap and nasty looking, unfortunately.

Fan Meet Ups » Frankfurt Christmas Market in Birmingham » October 8, 2013 8:36 pm

Good evening, fellow Sherlockians!

I'm posting here to see if anyone would be interested in going to look around the large Christmas Market in Birmingham at some point? It's on from the 15th of November, so starting very soon. It's put on in association with Frankfurt city and is pretty much one of the largest markets I've ever seen, at least in this country! It's amazing to see all the traditional German architecture that's brought over and set up there, too.

There are also other possibly interesting things to look at in the city centre, like the historic back-to-backs housing, pen museum and other museum/galleries/historical stuff. There's also a new Shakespeare Memorial Room at the city library which looks worth checking out. Also, no doubt lots of Sherlock related chat along the way and whatever else can be thought of!

Anyway, if anyone's interested, we could make arrangements to go and take a look.

Where do I have to send the membership form and so on to join up? I'm missing it on the website for some reason... If you could help me out, it'd be much appreciated.

Oh, hang on... send details to the e-mail address?

I wouldn't mind going to something like that, I think! I am male unfortunately, though! :D

Thank you for the offer! It would be much appreciated.

One idea I was wondering about actually, which could be in addition or another time or whatever, is that the Frankfurt Christmas Market is on in Birmingham from the 15th of November. I'm not sure what others think, but I always love that particular market when it's on... what do you think?

And what idea for dates did you have on the Manchester meet, SH? I'll probably come up by coach since they have cheap rates at the moment...

Definitely going to this! I've had an RSC membership for a while so I guess I'm a bit of a Shakespeare buff anyhow...

Yes, like some of the others say, I'd take this with a large pinch of salt considering the source. o.O

I tried to register in the SVS forums today, but registration was disabled? Do you get access once a member?

I'll be sending my membership application off soon...

I'd love to take a trip to Manchester for a SH meet, if someone didn't mind me Sherlock-esque napping on a sofa to save me having a long drive back the same day!

By the way, does anyone know the address for the Sherlockian Violin Society?
