You did well to pick up early on something that ended up being so good and successful!  It must have been gratifying if you'd been following from the beginning!

I had heard that it was very good. I don't know what took me so long to get round to watching it!  Especially as 10 years ago, we didn't have Netflix, etc., for distraction.  I tended to play computer games in my "switch-off" time rather than watch TV - that's my only excuse https://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/happy.png

Love Mycroft's little speech!

I was late to the game, and didn't start watching until I think just after S3 aired!

I know. I was having to look at an archived version of Sherlockology the other day.

There probably won't be a S5: I think the longer they leave it the less likely it is to happen, and everybody has moved on to other things.  I would love if there was maybe an anniversary series, years down the line!

Kind of funny if the watch Martin is wearing is actually an original masquerading as a cheap knock-off!

Update!  I've found Sherlockology in the Wayback Machine, and it has links to the two watches (not the S4 one).  http://web.archive.org/web/20180808105816/http://www.sherlockology.com/wardrobe

Apparently John wears a Tag Heuer Monaco (or something that looks like that) originally.  Not sure about S4.  Sherlock's is a Rotary GS02424/21.  (I know nothing about watches!  Just from what I found out on the interweb and may not be accurate!).  So John's is the more expensive one - although as you say, probably a knock-off?

Oh, apparently Walter White from Breaking Bad also wore a Tag Heuer Monaco.  I wouldn't have know the difference but all this watch business has got me wanting a new watch.  Thank you for the interesting line of enquiry!

Same here!  I'm British, but completely ignorant!  I would have to google it and wouldn't get any better information than you have already.  This website gives a little history of Camp Bastion https://www.nam.ac.uk/explore/camp-bastion-hospital and says

"Outside of Camp Bastion, individual medics were regularly deployed with British Army units. By 2007, the guerrilla nature of encounters with the Taliban meant that Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) needed to be established in hostile zones.Medical troops worked at these bases and also accompanied British soldiers when they were drawn into heavy firefights in towns like Musa Qala and Sangin. Other medics worked at regional medical centres such as the one at Lashkar Gah, treating both soldiers and Afghan civilians."

so I would guess there were no other field hospitals in the region, and medics outside of Camp Bastion were at medical centres or FOBs?

It used to my favourite gym workout song - really uplifting and motivating!

Oh, I will look up his covers of the songs!   Yes, Rachel McAdams is really good!  Dan Stevens is standout!  I really enjoyed it, it's also "wholesome", and the music is pretty good.  I think that most people who like Eurovision would like it, especially the cameos from previous contestants.  Just a lovely upbeat treat in the middle of the pandemic.

Edited because I had to go and look up one of my favourite Eurovision songs, so this is what I'm listening to now.  Still so good!  (Not the Eurovision performance, but I really love this later one).

Missing Eurovision this year! Have you seen Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga on Netflix?  I really enjoyed and thought the songs were great!

Just noticed this upcoming film on Netflix, apparently based on young adult books about Sherlock's 14 year old sister.   I haven't read them, but this could be fun!

I didn't think about dubbing into German.  I wonder if they had to consult with the team?

I miss all those theories.  I'm sure there was one about Janine and Jim being related, as they're both Irish.  It's good to know the answers (to most things) but I do miss all the speculation!

I'm trying to remember how much we knew back in December 2016!  We obviously knew about Toby Jones as Culverton Smith, and I think we had the titles, and had been given some clues for each episode.

Anyway, I followed the Setlock thread for that series, so got potential spoilers.  The big one was that Sian was recognised and there were shots of her filming TLD, and I think there might even have been a mention of her as Culverton's daughter.  No big deal, but it did mean that when she turned up in the first episode we wondered if something was up!  Just remembering how brilliant Sian was - it must have been such fun playing those different characters!

Just came across it and couldn't find it posted - fun to watch again now that we know how it panned out!  He did give a big clue that they were going to do "the other one" - well, we all suspected that anyway!  Remember the fan theory that it was going to be Mary?  I kind of liked that one.
