Hm, now you got me reconsidering my thoughts. I have to watch it again tonight. And then some more.

However, let's not forget how Mycroft stood by when Sherlock was being tortured in TEH, so he probably wouldn't have minded Sherlock getting at least a little bit "punished" on his secret mission.

I only watched it once last night, so I could be mistaken as well. Don't stone me if my comment turns out to be rubbish

True But I don't think Mycroft had anything to do with Moriarty's little appearance. He seemed truly surprised.

I think the "Have you learnt your lesson?" comment was meant to sound like Mycroft is still the alpha-Holmes in control of the situation. I don't know how to explain it better.
I'm convinced he really meant to send him off (though he probably would have got him home safely before anything could happen to Sherlock).

So let's assume she'll stay around (and the baby, too). How's that gonna work?

"Oh, hey honey. I'm off throwing myself in danger's way with Sherlock. Don't wait up, probably won't be home in time for dinner. *smooches*"

I could have imagined them as a triangle sort of thing, but the baby changes everything. One does not simply go chase after crazy psychopaths with a baby at home.

Quick question regarding the vault:

Does Appledore have an actual vault architecture wise or did Sherlock simply - and wrongly - deduce there must be a vault in order to store such a vast amount of information? Didn't he have some blueprints when telling John about Magnussen? I can't remember :/

In canon Mary  also eventually dies and Watson moves back to Baker Street. For now I'm firmly Team Johnlock (in a purely innocent sense)

I don't want to keep Mary around for season 4, I really don't. The basis of the show is the friendship between John and Sherlock and if Mary & baby stay around, John's focus will HAVE to be on his family. I just don't see how his relationship with Sherlock would not suffer. It already bothered me when we found out in the beginning how they haven't seen each other in a month. This will certainly only get worse once the baby is around.
So, as much as I think John deserves a family and happiness, this is not the show I want to watch. Now that Mary is pretty far along in her pregnancy the only way out I see is her dying in childbirth. Pretty cruel if you ask me. I also wonder why the writers added the whole pregnancy situation. No good can come of it.
I'm torn about Mary. On the one hand I understand why she did what she did, but then again she'll always be the woman who shot Sherlock. Who then almost died - no wait, for a few seconds he DID die. So yeah, can't really get past that. Mary needs to go.

Here's how I see it.

A) Moriarty is in fact dead. Then I would assume that they either carefully examined the body or (if Moriarty's people took it) would not rest until they'd made absolutely, 100 percent sure that they'd finished him for good.
In this scenario we can assume some impostor/his twin brother/new villain is using footage of Moriarty. I'm really struggling to understand why someone else would go to those lengths though. To what end? Revenge? Simply using Moriarty's reputation for yet unknown purposes? Hmm... The drama-queen-esque video message broadcast on every screen in the country does however hint at someone of Moriarty's caliber.

B) Scenario 2: Moriarty is still alive. If that is true then shame on the Holmes brothers for doing a sloppy job.
It would just seem too out of character for them to simply ASSUME he's dead if, for example, his body had mysteriously dissappeared from that roof. I just don't believe that after all their effort they'd let him slip away and got on with their lives.

Their reactions are quite interesting (I'm basing this on memories as I have yet to rewatch it). Their surprise shows me that they know he is dead. If they thought Moriarty were still out there they'd expect him to show up sooner or later.
Also they would probably keep tabs on him. Sherlock & Mycroft are simply too smart to be messed with like that.

Thoughts?

Oh, oh, and can we please talk about Magnussen? At first I was like "Yeah,ok. Meh." But then the creep-o-metre shot up way into the red. That eye flicking thing? I was wondering who'd snap first, John or Sherlock.

That convo between John & Mary, where he says her past problems are hers and her future problems are his. Something along those lines anyway. I'm rubbish at remembering stuff...
