When Mrs Hudson starts speaking to the boys after putting the tea on the table she passes by the skull poster whilst speaking. A moment later when she responds to them with 'both of you' she passes by the poster again.

I don't think so...one of the main character points of Milverton is that he doesn't see himself as a criminal. Just a business man so to speak. I'm sure the writers kept that part.
My guess is that he looks to be a media mogul who is used to getting his way by exerting his influence over people.^^
Agreed. A sly (or not so sly) reference to the recent exploits of a certain Australian media mogul. Who just happens to have appeared before a number of parliamentary committees recently.
And if you pause on the BBCNews item about Sherlocks return the rolling headlines state 'Magnussen summoned before parliamentary co (mmittee?).

Sherlock has played with the forth wall from the beginning. Not only to explore that avenue artistically but also I suspect to tap into the new mediums. Our new way of viewing and engaging with series such as Sherlock is no longer confined to television..
I think in this instance they could push the boundaries even further because the fans engaging outside of the programme were not limited to a few blogs; it went international not only through blogs, twitter, etc. but throughout the international press and onto primetime tv.
In the real world fans gather to get a glimpse of Benedict in Gower Street. In Sherlocks world it would not be unusual for fans to gather outside of 221B Baker Street to get a glimpse of Sherlock. In fact it would be odd if people didnt regularly recognise Sherlock Holmes on the street after solving so many prominent cases.

I'm convinced that Moriaty is dead for a number of reasons; not least because he is not going to sit back for two years and watch while his whole network is dismantled. But thats for another thread.

Whilst not posh; or upper class, they do look middle class or upper middle class. Certainly the clothes they wear say middle class or retired professional.
As for the 'coach', many older/retired people enjoy the midweek/long weekend breaks by coach. Many are quite expensive; particularly London, and are based around stays in 4 or 5 star hotels. They are also in their 70s so driving any distance would be a chore.
And their eldest would certainly be on a large salary, with plenty of perks; including a 'grace and favour' mansion. I don't doubt that he takes care of any financial 'worries' they might have.

Most of them focus on how he might have survived but convinced John that he didn't. The point is,he made the fall for a different purpose. Moriarty clearly states that Sherlock's friends would get killed if his people don't see Sherlock jump.
So,he had to jump for the shooters. Even if they replaced him by another corpse, the shooters would notice. Even if they brought an air bag,the shooters would notice. Sherlock would not know where all the shooters are located, nor does he know how many Moriarty's people are keeping an eye on him. If he knew,he'd have simply messaged Mycroft to take out those assassins and there would have been no need to jump.
All of the three theories shown in the recent episode, including the one that Sherlock tells Anderson, miss out on the point that Sherlock is watched by the shooters.
He also had to 'die' to go undercover to dismantle Moriarty's network.
Given that Mycroft planned the whole thing his first priority would be to achieve that. Saving the others would of been of secondary importance to Mycroft.
The Watson shooter was got at before the fall, and the other shooters would have been waiting for the recall code. It maybe that the location for the fall was not only to block Watsons sight; but also that of the 'recall observer'.
Not forgetting that when this was all planned the majority of the options would have been based on Moriaty 'staying alive'.
Quite simply; whatever happened, Sherlock had to 'die'.

In defence of Sherlock half the 'plot holes' people are coming up with are not plot holes at all; and there is also a lot of supposition based on peoples perception of the available evidence.
For example some assume the 'body' just turned up at Mollys morgue. Surely a more realistic option would be that a search; with the help of Molly would have been going on across the country for a look a like body from the moment Mycroft/Sherlock started to plan the various options. After all Mycroft would have had the full resources of the British Government behind him.
As for the body. It could have been needed as a fall back if any individual element of the plan (cyclist?) failed to work. Or indeed for any of the other plans they had up their sleeves.
And if we do end up with a major plot hole that generates the same amount of traffic as 'the fall' then Moffit/Gatiss will simply come up with an explanation that will come out as an aside during Season 4. Unless of course they have deliberately placed a plot hole in 'the fall' knowing it will keep us all debating for the next two years

Everyone knows that if you are an action hero you can get shot, beaten and tortured and still carry on. The only time you wince is when the girl dabs one of the wounds gently with her tongue moistened hankerchief.
Besides Sherlock is trained in all the martial arts and meditation. He can rise above it.

I agree. I cant see the Moriarty/Mycroft handshake being shown as just before they exited the building Gatiss thought of the idea of Moriarty wearing Sherlocks coat to confuse people even more. If it was part of a scripted 'fake scene' to be shown there would surely be continuity issues.
