It's been quite a few years since I've read Bradbury, but Fahrenheit 451 was always one of my favorites (the book as well as the movie). I have recently introduced my oldest grandson to Bradbury, and he also liked Fahrenheit 451. Actually he and I have similar tastes in books and TV. We both love Harry Potter, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Torchwood, and a few others...it's nice because we are able to talk about them together.
And even though we live in the US, we both prefer the UK editions of Harry Potter.
TV Programmes » Copper » August 21, 2012 7:51 am |
Watched the premier of Copper on BBC America last night. Not a bad little show, I liked it. Hopefully the TV bigwigs will give it a chance to find its audience instead of cancelling it after 6 shows. I don't really know too much about it yet other than that the main character is an Irish immigrant detective in New York during the mid 1860s and he is trying to find out what happened to his missing wife and who killed his daughter, all while trying to solve and/or prevent other crimes.
Books » My Book List » August 21, 2012 7:29 am |
I love to read and have quite a personal library of books that I've collected over the years. I love science fiction/fantasy, romance, suspense/mystery. I'll read anything from any genre that sounds like it might be interesting, and some of those have become my favorites over the years.
Just to name a few in my collection...
I'll read anything by Marion Zimmer Bradley and Ann McCaffrey (unfortunately both authors have passed away, Bradley in 1999 and McCaffrey in 2011, so no new books forthcoming anymore)
Bernard Cornwell's "Sharpe" series about the Napoleonic Wars
Kate Atkinson's "Case Histories"
All of the Harry Potter books (UK editions)
Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" series (have added "The Hobbit" to my stack of books to read)
Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 and The Martian Chronicles
Frank Herbert's "Dune" Series
And lots more too numerous to name.

If the M is correct may I have an E please. It is canon after all.
Sorry Davina, Smoggy requested an M and then successfully solved my quote so I can't give you the E you requested (there were 3). I believe a new puzzle has been started (my tardy response may have confused things a bit)...

Hi Tania, and welcome to the forum!
Lots of fun and interesting stuff here to keep us entertained during the hiatus. And if you're like me (and a few others), you probably watch your Sherlock DVD's 24/7 (or nearly so). I'm also trying to read through all the canon and collect some of the other movies that Ben and Martin are in.

Ahh! You are teasing me! You have to put it like a hangman thing first. You know like the one you solved so people ask if a letter is in it. You can use the quote you have chosen but I think you had better choose another one. Lol.

Well, this is a nice game! Wait Ima, I think I know! The solution for your riddle is:

Am I right? Am I right?
LOL...Well Davina, now I am really embarrassed...I got so flustered I forgot which game I was in!
And yes, Mattlocked, you are absolutely correct!
Let me see if I can come up with another one...I might just get it right this time!
Okay, here we go...
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ ' _ / _ _ _ _ / _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ / _ _ _ _ _ / _ _ _ _ _.

Alright, but there's a mute button and I will use it.

I would love to have a hard copy of this list. Is there a way to print this one, or does anyone know of a link I could go to to get a print copy?
Yes. There are 2 ways you can do this, depending upon the browser you are using. If it's internet explorer, just highlight what you want to print, and right click your mouse and hit print. Make sure the SELECTION circle is checked. then print in the normal manner.
Other browswers such as chrome don't have this. What you do then, is highlite what yu wanna print, open a word doc folder, and copy and paste it there. THEN print it in the normal way. Hope this helps you.
Thanks, sherlockskitty...worked perfectly!

Oops! Sorry, I think I must have done (or not done) something? Not sure what is intended by "bump". I couldn't come up with another quote and then got sidetracked. I guess I assumed someone else would jump in with something. How much trouble am I in?

Now, if you put after if it, it might be kind and let you embed it. Have a go dearie!
I did try that (twice!) but for some reason it wouldn't work for the first 2 videos, all I got was a blank screen with no video. Any ideas as to what I might have been doing wrong?
It worked for the last video, though. Thanks for the help!
Sherlock Games » Sherlock Songs » August 17, 2012 3:44 pm |
Okay, I'm going to try this again. These are the links to the videos I mentioned in a previous post about songs that reminded me of the relationship between Sherlock and John...hope you enjoy them.
Il Divo performing Hallelujah.
Celtic Thunder's Paul Byrom performing You Raise Me Up
Neil Diamond, a 1972 performance of He Ain't Heavy...He's My Brother
Yay, it worked! Thanks, Davina, for telling me how to do this...
For some reason I can only post the links for the first 2 videos, it won't let me post the actual videos, but I was able to get the actual video to post for the last one.

Hey imazherlockgirl! Good choices! If you click on the word quote on my last post you will see how I posted the video. Basically you need to put
whatever the code is for that video
Sadly some videos you might want to use won't embed like that.
Once upon a time, not so very long ago, I also did not have a clue how to do this either. Only being on this forum has thought me how to do it. See massive benefits to being a member!
Thanks, Davina! I wrote it down so I'll remember it...
