A reminder: The theme of the thread is "how will the show deal with Mary being present in the next season and with the beby" and not "what is the fastest way to get rid of her without killing her". We have already a couple of those.

Point taken. While I still think that it is relatively unlikely that Mary and the kid will stay in the show on long term, I’d say that if they stay they both will take a bit of a back seat. Basically because TPTB have said time and time again that this show is a show about a great friendship, a show about a detective (and his blogger). I think it would be hard enough to get Mary to fit in well into the narrative (I think Doyle had the same problem, which is why Mary is rarely mentioned after the sign of the four and eventually written out), but especially the baby I think will be hard to get to fit in story-wise. On the other hand, who would have thought that there could be room for another female character in the Holmes universe besides Irene Adler and Mrs Hudson, and yet many of us (me included) adore Molly. I stand by my prediction that Sherlock and the baby will likely have to stand in for some comic relief and Mary’s past will come back in some way and cause some angst, possibly even the death of a beloved character.

This is something I can sign! At least for S4E1 we will probably see Mary and her baby playing their roles in which way ever. But finally, either slowly or suddenly, they will leave the show. I don't know when and how, but I'm sure it will happen.
For the first episode I can imagine, too, that we'll see a few funny, comic scenes where Sherlock just has to prove his lack of social competence such as handling with a baby and its mother and father ... Well, I don't think this will be too hard to bare :-).

Um ... but all people of Sherlock's inner circle aren't like him. John, his absolutely best friend, isn't as smart as Sherlock, Lestrade isn't as smart as him and neither is Molly (or Mrs Hudson). So why do Sherlock like these people aroung him at all? It can't be their cleverness or general uniqueness (quite a strange phrase ...).
So what do all these friends of Sherlock's have in common? Why do he like them? maybe just because they accept him the way he is. And he is used to them, to their behaviour, their character traits.
Maybe we all underestimate ourselves: If we had the chance of really meeting and being together with Sherlock for a longer period, he's maybe accept and even like us

This is a good question, SherlockianPrincess, and it has troubled me for a while as well. I think, what Sherlock did is very serious and cannot be ignored as if nothing really happened. I can understand why he killed Magnussen, but it was clearly no act of self defence.
But as only Mycroft and his team know about the real circumstances there won't be any serious questions. Nevertheless, as far as the moral side of this whole issue is concerned, I can imagine that the murder will play a certain role in season 4 - but not to the dimension that Sherlock is arrested or something like that.

No, it's very unlikely he'd like me - even notice/see me in general. In his eyes I think I'd be too emotional. I often have strong feelings (positive and negative ones) and I like to show them - or rather said I cannot always control them.
Moreover, although being quite bright and knowing a lot I "see but don't observe" - the reason is simple: it takes to much effort! I'm not interested in everything happening around me. Honestly, I don't want to walk in Sherlock's shoes: all this seeing, thinking, combining, deducing ... my brain would explode and I could hardly relax!
No, I don't think that Sherlock and I would get good friends - but that doesn't stop me from admiring and adoring him from distance ;-).

To be honest, I tried reading the book twice and both times I stopped - the way of writing wasn't just my cup of tea.
I've never watched the film either, but I'm glad that you are impressed by it that much. I felt the same when I watched "Schindler's List" years ago. Hard to imagine what happened during these black times ...

Moffat says if he kills #DrWho and #sherlock and then shoots Daniel Craig in the face, then he'll totally kill British culture.

Gosh, when I was readin this I couldn't do anything more but LOL!!!

Hormones can play an important role in your emotions, so if you are "unbalanced" it's them maybe having an effect on your emotional stability. Isn't too bad to have it checked.

I would join you, too!

Hamm and Münster would be cool (by the way, if anyone goes by train I can recommend Hamm - it's a centre station, almost every train from all over Germany stops there)

EDIT: Sorry I just found it myself... 3 hours with a 20 minute intival... holy crepe.

There will certainly be a break, maybe even two. Don't get too nervous :-)!

Living in Germany I am very spoilt because we have a lot of subsidised communal theatres offering excellent productions at affordable ticket prices.

Yes, but don't forget that all our cultural life such as theatres, opera houses, education programmes etc. are financially supported by Federal Government and Federal States. Otherwise they couldn't survive. I don't know what's it like in GB.

Honestly, I thought s3 was ANTI-Johnlock-- it's like Mofftiss did every thing they could do to sink that ship!
:-D  It *did* go with the endlessly pining Sherlock (TSLSH), and we should have expected that. Err.. just because someone has a criticism of the show, and we don't agree with it-- that might be a little not good to tell them that they should just go watch another show... just thinking...

If you're refrering to my previous comment Raven, I meant no offense.  I have gotten so pissed off at certain shows that I did have to give them up all together.  Just pointing out that if you stop enjoying a show it's not horrible to just stop watching.

Aha. Gotcha! I think though, we need to leave room for those who critique because they love the show so much, they want to see the writers and etc, do their very best work. :-) Sometimes folks are dissapointed *because*  they *don't* want to give up on it...

This is so damn true! It can draw you mad to see your favourite TV show to turn into something ... HORRIBLE

I found the article quite nice and amusing, not sarcastic. It gives a suitable insight to fan life as it just is!
And if there were tickets for 500 pounds or 1500 - believe me, they would be sold!
