Ahhh yes.  So could be sometime after the TRF episode's  trial acquittal

A little question: they kept saying Moriarty visited Eurus five years ago. What happened on the show five years ago? Was it even before the pool scene? Some when during ASIB?

I am really lousy with understanding the time frame of the show.

Didn't Mycroft have him all during the Hounds of Baskerville timeframe "we interrogated him for weeks".. ?

Lis I also really like your list!, especially:

Sherlock and Mycroft talking about Mycroft's Lady Bracknell.

I want to break free!

Moriarty's hungry donkey nativity.

Sherlock shouting to John when he see he's in the well and his "try as hard as possible not to drown".

Sherlock's realisation that Redbeard was not a dog, poor Sherlock

Sherlock asking Greg to make sure Mycroft is looked after.

-Sherlock attacking the 'I Love You' coffin after his Molly attack  (one of my all-time favorite scenes)

-Mummy Holmes and Mycroft

-violins

-Sherlock the (adult) pirate

-vacuuming

-the cadence of Sherlock's voice when speaking to the girl on the airplane

-glimpses toward the end of them all putting  221B back together,  looking toward the future

-sad and relieved that there is no cliffhanger

The Lying Detective » First Impressions... » January 11, 2017 7:05 pm

A sad story arc as I see it.   Beginning of the end?

The original The Dying Detective was about using people as decoys/bait.
In The Lying Detective, Sherlock himself is the decoy,  Eurus is also a decoy.
But, as I always remind myself when trying to figure out where the narrative is
going:  Sherlock lies.  And here the lines between the real and the imagined
and the deceptive are really blurred.

A theme throughout the whole series - John Watson's business is to save lives.
He returns to that purpose here, but only when baited.  He hasn't even fully
returned to care for Rosie.

There is a real broken-ness in this episode, and a strange sadness that informs
all of the characters, in spite of all the cleverness.

Even the text by Irene Adler can be seen as just a recurring ongoing sadness/futility
of purpose at this point.

I don't see much hope.   I see a sweetness in the John/Sherlock iconic friendship, as
ever. And they do what they are good at:  (John is a life-saver, Sherlock is a deceptive and
clever crime-solver), but all lives end.

Introductions Please... » Greetings from Pennsylvania! » January 11, 2017 8:59 am

Really like your name! 😃. Welcome, and have fun!

I liked the writing.   Love the foreshadowing line, just before the opening credit music, when Eurus/therapist/Elizabeth/bus lady/Lady in Red/Ophelia/East Wind says to John: "Well now, won't you introduce me?"

So many great ones this week!    Unfortunately only one winner,  so please know that you all came
in a very close second place.

As much as I enjoyed the rides on the Hogwarts and Orient Expresses, locking up Poirot in the loo,
Thomas the Tank Engine and friends.. not to mention the brilliant Train of Thought,
disguises under that moustache and hat...and that these all point to fun in the 'Mile Long Club',..

 BUT... this time....

I just couldn't resist..........  ...
