I dreamed that I was flatmates with sherlock and john and was helping them with a case . I think I was describing how a bipolar criminal feels, but I'm not quite sure. they were both impressed though )
Also at one point of my dream I was playing some song like 'staying alive' very loudly in my room and john was yelling loudly that he couldn't take any of this anymore.
Please note that I had spent a full week obsessing over jeremy brett series of sherlock holmes and Sherlock and reading ACD and in short doing tons of sherlock related stuff.

Just want to put in my thoughts:
1. Remember that Moriarty is a psychopath. To kill himself out of boredom or just for fulfilling part of a plan can't be that much of a surprise. When sherlock says : "I am You" he is like "Oh yeah, Is that so? beat THIS" and kills himself. When somebody tells you that they are the same person as you , I at least would try to prove them wrong, at any cost.and that's what I believe Moriarty did.
Moriarty himself says his only weakness is he changes his mind a lot.so this has not been planned or anything.it just happened on an impulse.

Irene identifies herself as gay. Suddenly when she meets Sherlock, all of her preconceptions are blown out of the water.  This is because Sherlock is so different to other men.  I think Irene finds Sherlock attractive for a number of reasons,  Possibly many of the men she meets through her work...are, well, let's face it:  NONE of them would have been as clever as Sherlock. Irene possibly also finds the fact of their being so open to sexual manipulation quite pathetic...but clearly Sherlock cannot be manipulated that way.  Sherlock also acknowledges Irene's brain, she will not be used to men emphasising that aspect to her. Sherlock also treats Irene moderately respectfully, she may also not be used to that.  Sherlock is also honest and non-flattering,  Irene will most likely not have encountered those traits from her clients. Irene may normally have associated good men as boring, but Sherlock blasts those stereotypes from the water. Irene may basically see Sherlock as a challenge.

wow, I hadn't thought about that. It is a very interesting interpretation.

John identifies as straight and I see nothing so far to have changed that. He and Sherlock love each other, but it is bromance, not romance.  Theirs is love but not sexual attraction.

Yes, I forgot the expression "bromance" and when I said in the question that they are a couple, it was sarcastic! I meant they spend so much time together, they care about eachother...well, bromance!

I think Irene's point is that Sherlock is different to everybody else and so those close to him are going to react differently to how they normally do to other people. I think she is teasing John.
John isn't jealous, he is genuinely concerned for his friend's safety and he thinks Irene is dangerous.

The idea of john being gay is becoming a comedy source for the show.Everyone always assumes that "why does a man that age share a flat/spend that much time with an

In the books , the sign of four, it is mentioned that john is staying in a hotel and stays there until he spent almost all of his money, then he started to look for a flat mate.To me it looked like a small cheap motel.

I came here to ask a quite random question that has been nagging on my mind for some time though. I can't understand john's cell phone analysis.I mean I can't understand to how extent sherlock had been wrong. Can somebody explain it? Does john have an alcoholic sister, or were all sherlock's deductions wrong ?

I always assumed he was nearby and sent the text via Bluetooth or something like that.I read an article some time ago about how people always have their bluetooth on specially in public places. The phones we saw were quite modern (bluetooth enabled), so he could be nearby and sent the text to anyone in the room. This explains the speed of arriving the text.

May I ask another question here regrading to this episode? I'm new here and don't know if I should create a topic for my questions.
I'm kind of confused about this part of dialogue between John and Irene:
John Watson: Who the hell knows about Sherlock Holmes, but... for the record, if anyone out there still cares — I'm not actually gay.
Irene Adler: Well, I am. Look at us both.
what I understand is Irene is actually a lesbian but flirts with men,and john is straight but "is a couple" with sherlock , am I correct?

I've got a little suggestion too, which I use when I'm feeling kinda "sherlocky", if you know what i mean! ;)
Observe stuff about yourself, that way you will make the connections much more easier and you'll always know if you're right.then you can use those little details about yourself to observe others.
for example your state of nails, what you are wearing and how you look can say a lot about you.make that connection as what each sign is saying about your character and then you have a list of details about it in your mind.
Anyway, that's how I "deduce", and if I'm very very lucky sometimes I get it right about others too.

It's great you're studying software engineering.  I hope I can ask you a question about that, now and then.

Of course, feel free to ask anything! Anything except the code for all the locks! you could ask the maybe dead Moriarty about that ;)

My favorite quote at this moment is:
"I've always assumed that love is a dangerous disadvantage. Thank you for the final proof."
My mind just explodes every time I watch this part, and it's such a bitter sweet moment.

Hello everyone,
I'm a freshman studying software engineering, and being a total book person, sherlock has been a big part of my life since I was a kid.
I watched all the episodes of BBC Sherlock in two days about a month ago, thinking "It's not that big of a deal" and honestly I'm still not able to get it out of my head.
I've followed this forum for some time and finally decided to join because honestly, the waiting for season 3 is driving me crazy (as I'm sure does to a lot of you). Almost none of the people around me watched sherlock and the few who did were not willing to discuss about it.

Also,I want to apologize beforehand for my poor English and any grammatical error I will make.English is not my native language.

Hello , I'm new here.
You know you're obsessed:
...you started taking violin lesson because of jeremy berret's Sherlock Holmes series.
...named your violin sherlock, and insisted that everyone call "him" that.
... every time you went to violin class you announced "I'm going out with sherlock"
...after giving up on violin for good for over a year watching Sherlock still makes your mind go "what if I start again?"
...had a mini heart attack when reading the word "Shocked" in your completely non-shelock book.
... laugh at people in this forum for trying to tie their scarf like Sherlock, notice you do the same occasionally without actually meaning to ---> decide to join the forum because after all "we are all the same ;)"
