I love the writing.  To me, that's what makes it Sherlock Holmes...it's clever, funny, thrilling, and the characters fit together perfectly.  Personally, I hear a lot about "oh Moffatt screwed that up", but I don't see anything like that at all.  The clues are there, and they work out beautifully almost every time.  The only exception was the end of TBB...it was just ridiculous.  Everything else, though, is superb.

SOOOOO many things. Really hard to pinpoint ONE best thing about Sherlock. If I had to though...I'd say the writing.

I'll always remember the first time I watched Reichenbach. I wasn't sat there crying or thinking "how the heck did he fake it"...that all came later...I was sat there thinking "this is the cleverest, most wonderfully constructed, beautifully written piece of television I have ever seen on British TV."

These pretty much.  I was looking at SiB(For the umpteenth time) the other day and took a particular interest in the complexity, execution, and overall original style in which the script was written.

Honestly one of the best written tv series of all time.

Both adaptions are what ACD originally meant for her to be, and that is an equal for Sherlock in the form of a woman.  Whether or not a thief or a dominatrix, as long as she's someone that serves as a challenge to Holmes, she's the character Conan Doyle created.

Y'know I've always wondered and this thread should help me reach a conclusion.

Why was Brett never at least nominated for an emmy?

The show was amazing, the writing and directing were fabulous (most of the time), but Brett was the shining star and people knew that at the time.  I can deal with the other categories not getting noms, but I'm still puzzled why Brett never got one.

As im aware, Series 2 episodes didn't air over here until May.  When Series 3 comes are episodes going to be on itunes or online?  I refuse to wait 4 more months after the season premieres.

What would your 3 adapted episodes be?

Mine would be:

Red-Headed League - Just imagine this story "Moffatised."

Musgrave Ritual - This story expanded on could be really great.

Silver Blaze - A fun story like this would make for a fun episode.

Hmm... I admit it's a tough desicion between Rumpelstiltskin and Moriarty. But I like Rumpel better as a reformed Anti-Hero, whereas dear Jim's as delightfully psychotic as it gets, so Moriarty it is.

(dude, someone needs to write a fanfiction where those two meet. I wonder who would win?)

For me it was a tough decision between Moriarty and Spo....  i mean Dr. Thredson.

A fun game I thought of where we take every Canon story and rename it as if it were an episode of Sherlock.  You can name it anyway, as long as it relates to the story:

Examples

Big Changes:

The Final Problem - The Reichenbach Fall

Medium Changes:

A Study in Scarlet - A Study in Pink
A Scandal in Bohemia - A Scandal in Belgravia

Minor Changes

The Hound of Baskervilles - The Hounds of Baskerville

Rules:

1.  It must be in order of the publication of the stories(Sign of Four, Adventures, Memoirs, Return etc.)
2. You can only post three times a day and those post must be three hours apart, one story/episode per post.
3.  We continue until we get all 56 stories done(Scarlet, Scandal, Hound, and FP are omitted).

The whole of series 2 just felt very different to me.
Much lighter, tho as Mark would say, as light as it could be- considering the subject matter!

I noticed that too.  Especially with this episode but surprisingly with the Hound episode and Fall.  One of the main reasons I loved this series so much over the 1st(I LOVED the first but I enjoyed this better).

.

There's lots of Moftiss ideas in there and a vast amount of cherry-picking of nods to the canon as well. Eg Scandal in Belgravia there is a mention by the equerry of the client being 'Illustrious' and Sherlock goes to Buckingham palace wearing a white sheet - In the canon story The Illustrious Client it begins with Holmes and Watson in a Turkish Baths sitting side by side both wearing white sheets

Good Eye!  I would've never caught that.

Quick Question, when the 3 words were announced for Series 2 was their any speculation at all or were people immediately able to guess the 3(As I would guess)?
