Schools (elementary, high school, university) have all gone online here, too. All the classes that people in my year were TAs for moved to online teaching. The class I'm a TA for was an online class to begin with, so luckily I didn't have to adjust to a different way of doing things.

There are a couple of seniors' homes in the province that have had several coronavirus cases, but luckily the one where my Oma is staying has been proactive and stopped letting visitors come inside the building for weeks now and seems to be doing a lot to make sure nobody gets sick. We have brought stuff for her a few times (we stay outside and a staff member comes to the door to get it) and tried a Skype call (but my Oma wanted to hang up after only five and a half minutes even though she didn't have to hang up for another fifteen) so that she can sort of see us even if not in the flesh.

This sounds very familiar to me. My mum is in a care home and of course I am worried about her because she is 87 and suffering from Parkinson's. There are many cases of coronavirus infections in some senior's homes but so far we have been fortunate with my mum's place. They too banned visitors from mid-March on and try to keep any risk at a minimum. It's hard not to be able to visit my mum but I accept that it is for her safety.

I am still commuting to work five times a week. Initially my coworkers and I had been asked to set up alternating shifts which meant I was allowed to work from home every other day, but then our higher-ups changed their minds. Truth be told, I can't get much done when I am working from home because I can't access the intranet when I am not in the office, and our bosses always refused to buy the neccesary equipment. Of course now they realised that this was probably a mistake.

Great show last night at the Royal Albert Hall. You know the line-up is going to be fantastic when the first reader is Stephen Fry...
Other highlights for me were Olivia Colman, Jude Law, Louise Brealey and of course Benedict who did a wonderful rendition of "Dear Bessie" with Louise.

Oh, and MP Rory Stewart took the stage and said the following letter constitutes his resignation from the Conservative Party. The letter was Boris Johnson's shool report from Eton, written by Martin Hammond to Boris' father Stanley Johnson.

The show was at least partly filmed so I hope that some official videos will be available soon.

I’ve fallen in love with this show which is currently available exclusively on Amazon Prime and will be broadcast later on BBC television.
It’s wickedly funny, and I love the chemistry between the two main characters played by Michael Sheen and David Tennant.

Bonus for Sherlock fans, there are quite a few people from BBC Sherlock involved in this show. The cast includes Sian Brooke, Mark Gatiss, and Jonathan Aris, the soundtrack was written by David Arnold, and the director is Douglas Mackinnon.

He looks very much like John indeed. The picture on that website reminds me of The Hounds of Baskerville, that gave us plenty of similar pictures of John (and Sherlock) in Dartmoor.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Elisabeth Moss will star in Jane Campion’s new film, “The Power of the Dog,” an adaptation of the Thomas Savage novel.

Campion will direct from a script she adapted, with See-Saw Films’ in-house sales arm, Cross City Films, launching sales at this month’s Cannes Film Festival. The movie will go into pre-production at the end of the year.

“‘The Power of the Dog’ is a sublime novel that deserves a life on the big screen. I couldn’t stop thinking about the story, it really haunted me. The themes of masculinity, nostalgia and betrayal are an intoxicating mix,” Campion said. “It’s also rare to find a story where the themes, the plot and the characters build tension as they reveal each other and even the end is satisfying and unexpected. It will be the first time I’ve worked with a male lead, which is exciting. Phil is a charismatic and complex character who declares war on his brother’s new wife and her teenage son.”

This looks like a wonderful opportunity to hear some parts of the Sherlock soundtrack and other great film music live.

"Join us for a night of award-winning film and TV music from legendary composers, David Arnold and Michael Giacchino, as they strike up the orchestra and go into symphonic battle, comparing and colliding on their impressive back catalogue of music.Confirming his position as one of the biggest figures in film and TV music, Michael Giacchino stakes his claim to the stage with music from award-winning scores for The IncrediblesStar TrekUpRatatouilleLost and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Rising to the challenge, David Arnold, best known for his epic Bond soundtracks as well as Independence DayGodzillaStargateSherlock and upcoming TV series Good Omens, proves himself a worthy rival and equal to the very best composers. This epic evening will include music, storytelling, challenges of wit and friendly competition."

Just back from London, and I can happily report this was one of the best run of shows I’ve seen. Benedict took part in all three nights. My favourite show was probably Friday night, with Olivia Colman (she got standing ovations when she entered the stage), and Benedict and Louise treating us to a beautiful performance of “My Dear Bessie.”

Three new Letters Live shows at Union Chapel London 7-9 March 2019. Tickets went on general sale today. Booking turned out to be quite a nightmare, Ticketmaster only available for those who live in the UK/ Northern Ireland or Republic of Ireland.
I finally managed to book via the website of the venue but it took me several hours because the website kept crashing and giving error messages, or seemed to require membership for booking although it was supposed to be general sale.

I bought a ticket (was lucky to get one because they sold out quickly and it seems the sale started earlier than announced) but I’m not 100% sure if I can go. December is always very busy at work so I’ll probably decide last minute if I can squeeze in a short trip to London.
