Tho' as any fangirl, I'd love to see any appearance he does but really I wish they would leave them to be at least at the airports. What a annoyance it must be to come off a plane every single time and have a camera in your face constantly. Well, that's the price to pay for celebritys I guess.

To change the subject a little bit - I've seen it brought up in interviews every now and then whether Ben is posh or not.

Well, I found this pic that answers the question once and for all:

Ben watching tennis (French Open).
In a Lacoste t-shirt.

I don't think you can get any posher than that even if you tried.

I know that in Britain, "post" might be seen as a negative word, but as a Norwegian, it's sure isn't one for me. His poshness is one of the things I adore about him.

So,wearing a Lacoste tshirt makes a person automatically posh. Well.ok.

Dear kaye,
being a bit fangirlishly jealous is alright, but please stop with this negative stuff about Sophie. This forum is very proud on being a nice, friendly place. Please help us keeping it this way. Thank you.

Kaye was just keeping it real.      . I don't think it's "negative" to observe that Sophie doesn't have the (20-something, blonde, stacked) appearance of a woman one might expect to see on the arm of an A-lister.

What.the.what? Really? Su you're telling that it's ok to think that if you don't fit the media created standard of long legged, silicone breasted, stupid etc. bimbo, then there's no chance that some celebrity might find you attractive? Are you that vain? I'm sorry, but my opinion of you went clattering downstairs. Whatever.

Thank god that Sophie is simple looking and real down to earth woman. If Benedict had showed up with  one of those forementioned bimbos,I would've been extremely dissapointed in him.

I can't quite understand why they did his hair like that...

If you want an actual explaination, W magazine uses a certain kind of photography to push/shock people into having a reaction. That's the point of it. They have photographed celebrities of all sorts in all kinds of offbeat ways since the 60s. Some of it has stirred controversy. Anyway, beauty for beauty's sake isn't the point....but the joke is on them this time since they can't make Benedict look bad and he's already known to be a goofball.
google W classics if you want to see some of the other iconic images

I'm very happy that he has engaged and I wish them good luck and everything that's best. But you know what? I'm even more happy that they managed to keep their relationship in private. I think it's good that at least some aspect of Ben's private life stood hidden from media, he deserves a little privacy

And I agree with you Phantom - fans who are acting like that aren't fans at all (and probably never were)

This! And I've seen a lot of comments in a style of "omg! I feel so betrayed and I 'm gonna lock myself in my room and cry for hundred years cos I 've been in love with him and now all my dreams are crushed etc." I mean, seriously? Geez!

I agree with you Liberty, and it's great that he's honest and hasn't allowed himself to be turned into a Hollywood cutout.
On the issue of the fanfic though, he absolutely knows by now how defensive people get about it; he's seen the problems Amanda had for seemingly criticising it, for instance.
Personally I didn't think he said anything too bad about it, and I think his real issue is that he has created his own version of Sherlock that doesn't fit with the version in some of the fics (maybe that proves Ancientgate's point that he's a little self absorbed - I don't know), but either he doesn't care if he risks alienating some fans, or he does need to be careful sometimes, because he was definitely unhappy once before when the Press seemed to turn on him, so I can't imagine him being OK with an outpouring of vitriol towards him from a section of fans.
For the record, I think people who are overreacting to his comments need to relax a bit; he's human and to expect him to be perfect at all times is unrealistic and scary.
Oh, and nakahara - I completely agree with you on the issue of his privacy.

Personally I find the whole johnlock thing gross, I think it just reduces something he's worked very hard to perfect to the lowest common denominator - smut - and something it's not, a homosexual relationship ("not that there's anything wrong with that"- Jerry Seinfeld).  The rage on tumblr is ridiculous, almost like "we made you and we can take you down". Sorry tweens, you did not MAKE him, he's fucking brilliant at his job without you, and true fans would not think to say something so entitled and downright stupid. Maybe he's disgusted by it, maybe he thinks it cheapens what he's spent years building. If anything this will separate the men from the boys, if you're a fan of his work and respect his views and his personal space - good for you, if you're a fanfic writer who thinks he OWES you his adoration for your stories, then suck it up,

So this interview caused some bad rap abou Benedict? That´s what I call "a storm in a watercup".

I read it but I´m quite puzzled what exactly did people find so offensive (it is also not the first Benedict´s interview that threw people into rage over some fairly innocent remark taken out of context, but those previous cases were equally pointless).

He didn´t like people disturbing his privacy althrough he is a celebrity and he should be used to it by now? But why should he be disturbed at all when he is obviously having a private, possibly serious conversation with somebody else? People don´t own him just because they saw him on TV nor does he own them anything over the fact. He is most polite to people who meet him in conventions and public events where it is expected that he should be photographed and spending time with fans. What he does outside this area is his own thing and he should not be judged too harshly for wanting to have this part of his life solely for himself.

(Not that he was all that rude to the woman who approached him. He refused her quite politely, IMHO.)

Not liking Johnlock fanfiction is similarly not a crime. There are people who hate Johnlock as a whole and are their worse human human beings for it? Probably not.

Of course, we can´t know merely from this interview if he is really pretentious or not, but... if his pretentiousness is only manifested by taking part in charities, playing his roles as good as he possibly can and hating unwanted attention, I see no harm in it. More harmless egoist like this, please!

 Preach it, sister!

He's got such a presence and charisma, in front of every camera, may it be for a film or a photoshoot. Of course he knows what he's doing and how this affects people looking at it... sexy b******...

I think tere is a funny controversy in it. On the same time he poses fully aware of his charisma and plays the camera like noone else but still he can't understand why the world sees him as a sexgod and that he is corgeous.

What is the context?  I thought it was in response to the silly question (I'd watched a bad recording) but here it looks like it's in response to something Keira sad, and possibly "we're taken".  What did she say?

Woops, slow typer I am.  For everybody: this girl from the audience asked that infamous "can I taste your yumminess" question. You can see Keira and dude making a show over it. So he points at them and says that "I'm taken"

I really hate how everything he says is always taken out of context. There's actually a video of Q&A which explains the "I'm taken" thing.
http://youtu.be/RpySzX6IV8A
But if he is taken,i'm really glad.He deserves all the love.

And let me just tell you what's professional: It's professional when Benedict Cumberbatch/Sherlock Holmes forgets his line in TSoT and just says "him" to Martin Freeman/John Watson while they are sitting on the sofa being drunk, and they just keep it in the finished episode. That's professional.

Ok,since we're splitting hairs here anyway:why don't people realise that it's not actually "him" Sherlock says but"thing"

Well,I think he's a professional enough for not needing someone to pull funny face to make him laugh.
If it's in the script, then actor acts.

There's a thing I fail to understand. Why is it so important that he looks perfect all the time? It's his life, his choices. If he decides to wear that or that particular outfit or hairdo on his free time, let him.
When he's "on duty" it's his job to be all dressed up,makeup on-looking perfect. When "off duty" I couldn't care less,he could wear a potatosack and greasy hair if he feels like it.
